Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

What's the rule? If a non-BCS conference winner is ranked higher than a BCS conference winner, they are guaranteed a BCS game?

Top 12, or top 16 if they're ahead of a BCS conference champion. TCU getting in would make me laugh.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Depending on the matchup, I think TCU could compete...

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Old School Big East matchup of West Virginia-Virginia Tech wouldn't look so bad in the Orange Bowl...compared to what it could have been.

True, should get a good turnout, though someone somewhere else pointed out in that case they should just move it to VT or WV and it'd get an even better turnout.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

UMaine beats App State 34-12...New Hampshire scored with 6 seconds to go, making the score 26-25 Montana State, but the PAT hit the upright. Montana State wins that one 26-25.

If they played that game at Fedex it would sell out three times over.

Normally I'd root for Wisconsin tonight. But there had to be shenanigans in setting up big ten divisions. Putting all the smaller market schools in one division (even if they include Michigan schools) had to be contrived. This is fixed if you switch Northwestern and put Illinois in the Legends division. But I'm thinking somebody (cough...Alverez) manufactured the divisions.

Go MSU!

Michigan and Nebraska are "small market", while Penn State is a "large market"?

The only or top school in 5 of the top 6 most populous big ten states are in the Leaders division.
Schools in the smallest 3 states and Northwestern are in the Legends division.

Go MSU.

That's an absolutely idiotic way of looking at it though. Nebraska is a small state population, thus their football team can't have a big following.

What???

Successfully baited an internet dork who is shocked, SHOCKED by somebody else's opinion.

Believe it or not big state college programs will always be successful. That's why Ohio State, Penn St, Texas will always be successful...Iowa not so much. Its why the Big Ten is the Big Ten. I'm happy with the addition of Nebraska, but if you think their is no risk if they have a handful of down years...I've got a U of Miami program for you.

Go MSU!

OkSt doing their part to cause (another) controversy in the BC$ system. 24-3 at half, if they keep piling it on, they might have a shot at leapfrogging 'bama, but who knows.

LSU vs _______.

Eh... I think the deciders have decided... this would come down to more of a "principle" vote... generally though, you have a team for whom their only loss was against the number 1 team in the nation... you'd have to make a VERY strong SOS argument to jump that... assuming one exists... and since the SEC tends to have the highest schedule strengths that is fairly doubtful.

I also think we're gonna get a rematch, but I'm really hoping OkSt can eek out the 2 spot.

Big XII's been the best conference this year by a sizable margin. The BCS has been decided because Alabama is a name school that SID's and Harris pollster's recognize, while Oklahoma State is playing for their first ever outright conference title by comparison.

If the names were Mississippi State and Oklahoma with everything else the same, the Sooners would be punching their ticket to New Orleans.
