Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Big XII's been the best conference this year by a sizable margin. The BCS has been decided because Alabama is a name school that SID's and Harris pollster's recognize, while Oklahoma State is playing for their first ever outright conference title by comparison.

If the names were Mississippi State and Oklahoma with everything else the same, the Sooners would be punching their ticket to New Orleans.

The only real ostensible difference between the current situation and the bowl coalition is the computer fig-leaf, Pac10/Big10, and the separate national title game.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Dantonio, to punt the ball and rely on your D to get you the ball back, I'd rather have a D that hasn't already given up 42 points. Moron.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Also, Clemson routs VaTech to win the ACC. That comes with the Orange Bowl berth most likely, correct?

And, oops Michigan St. Big, big oops.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

A lot of people seem to be questioning why you would go for the block there, knowing your offense gets the ball back and all. But, Wisconsin's special teams have been generally awful this year, multiple punts blocked, why not go for it?

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I'm sorry, but that was a terrible call.

It may have been a flop, but he still made contact with the kicker. The rules are the rules.

He doesn't clip the kicker and MSU would likely have won.

Those were two very closely matched teams.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I didn't see Clemson or OK State winning. Had the Badgers though.

I don't want a rematch either, but Alabama's loss is better than OK State's. That's what it comes down to to me. I also just think Alabama is better than OSU.

Bama lost at home and OSU lost on the road the night that 2 OSU coaches were killed in a plane crash. I think that's a push. Also, the depth of the SEC was putrid this year.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Wins over FBS schools with winning record

Alabama: 3
Oklahoma State: 7

Wins vs. FBS teams with 8 or more wins
Alabama: 2
Oklahoma State: 5

According to Brad Edwards, if Okie State sweeps the computers in 2nd place as expected, they need 45 of 174 human voters to put them 2nd. For each voter that keeps idle Stanford ahead of OSU in 3rd, they would need 1 more 2nd place vote. Hope survives for a few more hours.

Edit: Dan Wetzel trolling the BCS hard even no.

@DanWetzel
Dan Wetzel
TBoone dropped $275m on OSU. Why not offer $100k to all 115 Harris voters ($11.5m). No NCAA rule against it

Yes, Bama lost at home...to LSU.

Oklahoma State lost to 6-6 Iowa State.

Look, I don't like Nick Saban and would love to see OSU bypass them, but I can't complain if we have a rematch.

My eyes tell me Alabama would beat Oklahoma State. Would have made for an interesting national semifinal...

this is very much wishful thinking... I looked up Massey's computer rankings... I usually default to him... his SOS for 'Bama was 2... OSU 5... further the SEC had just as much depth as the Big12... the depth of the Big12 is better but not dramatically so

edit: of course, this time of year is always oh so special... curiosities like "can the computer rankings flip because of Army/Navy or any number of NCAA playoff games"? Ah... joy.

I don't even know how to describe how I feel. I was going to be given Rose Bowl tickets for Christmas, it was promised the night of the first Wisconsin game. At first it was just a promise like "oh, that'd be cool" and then everything kept falling into place. Finally it looked like everything was falling into place. Six minutes from the Rose Bowl, and then next time a mere three yards. I don't like to a single person, but two plays ended up winning it for Wisconsin. Isiah Lewis was directly responsible for the 4th and 8 conversion that lead to the go ahead TD, and then ran into the punter.

Great season, couldn't ask for a better one. Next year will be fun to watch. Reloading on offense but not losing anyone on D unless Worthy leaves.

It'd be fun if they forget to add in one Georgia Southern-App State game that flips 4 teams in the top 20 again like last year.....and thats' the one computer system we have public access to double check....

.....maybe they should just have a selection committee like basketball.

In addition, Nortman had been GREAT all night, did Martin even have a return before that last one?

Wisconsin's punt team scheme is one of the worst ever. rush more than five and you have a serious shot at blocking the punt.

I called into fox sports tonight radio, driving home from watching the game with some friends. TJ or whatever the hell his name is was just blown away that the refs didn't let that running into the punter go. flop or no flop, whether he was trying to avoid contact or not, the refs nailed the call one hundred percent. they assessed the five yard, not the fifteen yard penalty, which was the correct call, and it was a misfortune for the Spartans.

I really think OSU should jump Bama, but I'm not holding out hope. there's going to be a lot of voters that think the SEC is untouchable.
