Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

It's kind of a shame but I don't know. These psu players had a great year and will get punished for it.

Given the circumstances, yes they did have good season, but they were thoroughly embarrassed today by a much better Badgers team.

It would seem this article is both prescient and now moot.

As much as I like Tom Bradley, I think that it's safe to say there will be a complete house cleaning and a totally new coaching staff come spring drills.

The worldwide leader is trying to grow the story that maybe no bowl will take them. I really do hope the players get a chance to go. As Mav said, they shouldn't get punished for the sins of the people that let them down.

I can understand if they want to apply a punishment towards the future... but giving this set of kids the shaft because of the problems of others reeks so much of "sins of the father"... even if you could support disbanding the program for a set time I'm not sure how you can justify ending the season early in relation to the current team... at least if you do something for the following year the students have a chance to assess their options and pursue their opportunities.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Because of the BT bowl tie ins PSU will go somewhere. From what I heard on tv today, a bowl can pass on PSU for another BT school as long as the school doesn't have more than 2 fewer wins. That means;
1) Wisc or MSU - Rose Bowl
2) Michigan - BCS - some have them in the Sugar Bowl vs Houston.
3) Wisc. or MSU - Capital One Bowl
4) Nebraska - Outback Bowl
5 & 6) Iowa @ 7-5 or PSU @ 9-3 in the Gator Bowl and the Insight Bowl
All other elgible teams are 6-6. Either way, the BT will make sure PSU gets a 'decent' bowl. That's the benefit of joining tBT.

Yeah, between that and the numbers of PSU fans that would show up, plenty of bowls out there that would love to get the draw that would be PSU football.

Why does Stanford have a train horn play when they score? This confuses me.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I suppose you aren't supposed to win either though when you spike it on 3rd and 6 after looking to the sideline for the play for 15 seconds. For leading that comeback against UW Braxton sure looked shaky on that last drive.
Can't argue. Having a true freshman QB has historically been a problem in the Ohio State/Michigan series, and today was certainly no exception. Certainly Miller made some fine plays over the course of the game. But the inconsistent passing, the rookie mistakes... ouch.

The better team won today. Michigan was better in large part because the veteran Denard was better than the rookie Braxton. The gap at the QB position will narrrow next year. Now we may not see the same point production in the 2012 game. I expect that both defenses will be decidedly better a year from now. But when errrors occur, they will be much more likely to be forced errors, not rookie hiccups.

Are you serious? Did you have any American History in High School? google Leland Stanford and educate yourself.

next you'll be asking why Vanderbilt, located in landlocked Tennessee, call themselves the Commodores?

USC up 50-0 on UCLA.

Can we just let USC play Oregon in the Pac 12 Championship anyway? Actually no, I have the solution: Cancel the game, and have USC-Oregon play an alternate reality game, this time where Oregon made the field goal and the game is now going to overtime. Like Situation Mode the old Madden games used to have (or did they put that back in?). That would have to get better ratings than Oregon being up 35-0 after the first quarter.

Leland Stanford became wealthy and famous as the president of the Central Pacific Railroad.

As your reward, I give you a picture of me from ABC/ESPN's haltime game montage:
