2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I think this season is the kind of one where Chris Petersen will be willing to listen to offers. Deep down, Boise has to know that this year would have been their best shot at hitting the national title game. They have a win over a 10-2 Georgia team playing LSU this weekend for the SEC crown (granted, they reached it primarily because their schedule missed Arkansas, Alabama and LSU in the regular season), there is no clear cut challenger for #2 leaving Alabama because they and LSU played 60+ minutes of "not to lose" football.

An undefeated Boise probably gets just enough interest from people hating the idea of a boring-*** rematch and, oh by the way, settling the question of how legit they are once and for all.

So true. Boise would've been rocked anyways;)

Boise doesn't need to play in a national title game to "settle" that they are plenty legit. Are they LSU this year? Likely not, but there are plenty of other "legit" teams who aren't either. Granted, you're the same guy who predestined Georgia to be a mid-pack (7-6 at best, I think) SEC team right after Boise slapped them up and down the field on the road, so I'm not sure clairvoyance is something you should continue to mess around with. Never seems to accomplish much on your end.

People thought they would have been rocked by Oklahoma in the Fiesta a few years back, but they knocked off the giant there that thought that they was going to have an easy game. Kids listen to how they're going to beat em by 40 for a month, they're not going to be as that focused come gameday.

Really?

I'm not shocked. Who would want to travel to Indy to a game in some sterile indoor stadium?

Chicago is to the Big Ten what Atlanta is to the SEC. It's the obvious choice because almost any school that gets there will have tens of thousands of alumni in the area on top of Chicago actually being a place one wouldn't mind spending a weekend, as opposed to Indianapolis. It being cold and the field itself being crap just makes it more of a Big Ten venue.

Edit: Apparently according to Illegal Shift, it's a hoax, though you can get 50 yard line tickets on Ticketmaster right now, probably from overzealous Nebraska fans who bought the next ten years worth of title game tickets the day after joining the conference.

I understand and am fully aware. Hence the ";)"

Leach would be a good hire at WSU.

I had tickets to Indy, sold them on Ebay. Gotta be prepared if Iowa ever makes it.;)

So what happened? There are very few tickets available in Ticketmaster's first-sale market for any section other than 113 (we found them in 102 and 417, but nowhere else). Were the tickets reserved for an entity that at the last minute elected not to purchase them? We've reached out to relevant parties but have yet to receive an answer.

But given that the section of seats that would appear on television the most often is as of this afternoon almost entirely empty, it would be in someone's best interest to hire people to fill them.

Shed and metal box makers in Pullman are rejoicing. Business will pick up for sure with the boxes Leach will use. :D

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

UCLA will be bowl eligible at 6-7, according to the NCAA. They approved the school's waiver.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

$1,000 per seat? Uh, no.
Cripes!!!! They could save themselves the trouble and embarrassment of hiring seat fillers just by slashing that price in half. In this economy, there's just not a whole lot of people willing to cough up that kind of cash just to go sit at the game, never mind how much it would cost them to get to Indy, a hotel room, and whatnot.

Especially when you have plenty of Badger fans saving money for a Pasadena trip.

The question is will they want to undertake the cost considering not many people may pay to see a 6-7 perenially underachieving team without a coach who will have just lose their last couple games by a combined 100 points or so (just guessing for this weekend) play a team like Western Michigan in the not-so-famous Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl?

They'll be in the Rose Bowl though?;)

right now, bowl projections have #7 BSU playing on December 21 against LaTech. That's a Wednesday. Oh, and WAY before Christmas.

On the other hand, the same projectsions have OSU playing Florida. On Jan 2 (since Jan 1 is a Sunday). They are both unranked. They are both 6-6.

:)

I'm so happy that BCC showed how legitimate they were by losing a squeaker against TCU to not win their conference.

funny about that- BCC doesn't win their conference, and gets a crappy bowl game against a second rate team in a 3rd rate conference (yes, I know Idaho is in that conference, so the 3 rate is correct- it could be lower...). On the other hand, Alabama doesn't even win their division by losing at home (in a stunning similairy to BCC), and they look to get into the BCS championship game. interesting.

You wasted a lot of words...when you could have simply said "Boise is getting screwed, again".
