Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I find it funny that the Game of the Century is 3-3 at the half with 3 missed FGs....

I hate the fact people call it the game of the century before it's played. That should be reserved for after the game.

Anyway, I had this one pegged 20-13 Alabama. Not surprised at all by the low score.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

K-State - #3 OK State coming down to the wire as well. K-State up 38-37 with around 5 minutes left.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

9-6 LSU over Bama in OT. The game was, from my perspective as an unaffiliated fan, completely underwhelming.

The KState-OSU was the exact opposite with almost zero defense in a 52-45 win for OSU.

I don't see how LSU/Alabama can live up to the hype this weekend.

It feels like its going to be a 10-6 type game.

Nice call on both counts.

Tim Brando looks like he should be selling used Oldsmobiles somewhere in Georgia.

If LSU/Alabama is a rematch in January, I'll be watching the NHL that night. What unwatchable dreck.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

Never going to happen, but what if Oregon beats Stanford next week and runs the table the rest of the way? Don't they have a better case for a rematch than 'Bama?

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

I want Stanford and OkState to go undefeated and have LSU lose to Arkansas: the whining that would ensue would be perfect in that situation.

As much as I am against a rematch, I've sadly heard many an announcer say they would vote the loser back in if they lose close and run the table. :(

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

There's plenty of legit reasons to hate the SEC, but I thought that was a **** entertaining game. Those are the two best teams I've seen in the country, bar none.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

A bunch of NFL draft picks on defense taking on hopelessly inept quarterbacks. Change their uniforms and we all just wasted 3.5 hours watching Browns-Seahawks. Bad football is bad football.

And in a sport where over 90% of teams don't play each other in a season, a rematch is intellectually lazy anyway.

Not saying I disagree, but I wouldn't be against seeing Stanford get a shot if they win out.

It's not intellectually lazy to completely ignore strength of schedule and base things solely on record?

Given how few interconference games there are between teams in bcs conferences, any undefeated team in a bcs conference should be selected over a one Bama team for the NC game.

My opinion is if you don't win your conference championship, you shouldn't be playing in the NC game.

Re: 2011 College Football: Occupy GameDay!

As long as Stanford (I hope) or OkSt is undefeated, this LSU/Alabama rematch stuff is utter crap. Let's say that they in fact are the top 2 teams in the country bar none. Well then a) we already saw them play and know who the better of the two is and b) if they're so great let's see them prove it on someone other than each other. It's like if in a pro sport you had two teams far above the rest but for some reason played each other in an early round of the playoffs; you don't say to hell with the rest of the playoffs, we'll just have them play each other in the finals; even if they're the best >>we already know who is better<<, they need to prove it against others, so rehashing the same matchup to jerk those two teams off serves no purpose.

Now if there's no one undefeated besides Boise or Houston then it gets interesting. Ah who am I kidding, if there's a ****load of one less teams they'll choose an SEC one, no ****ing mystery there.

I agree 100% but unforunately the BCS is effed for more reasons than one. I'm not kidding - anyone in favor of Bama not making the BCS title game better hope they lose another game and I am one of them.

I'm with you. I don't need the game to be 49-45. That was high drama and it lived up to the hype. The offenses only looked that bad because of the defenses they were going against. Pretty sure both offenses were averaging over 30 coming in. The whole sequence of the LSU interception near the goal line and the punt that reversed field position...that won it for LSU.

Maybe to someone who isn't a complete homer.

LOL. We were speaking in general about .500 teams, not any specific team, idiot.
