Looks like a direct hit on Sandy Hook, NJ. If I recall my disaster shows on the Discovery Channel, this will push a wall of water into NY Harbor which will flood out everything.
Still not looking good for the Eastern Shore.
Predicted winds:
Kepler -- good idea for your daughter to get out of there. I would imagine the Bay Bridge will close on Saturday.
Models are trending back east...
Nice tracker on the WaPo site. http://www.washingtonpost.com/hurricane-tracker?hpid=z1
Has it going right over Virginia Beach and Ocean City. Kepler - did you pay the full tuition for this semester?
Hurricane watch now posted from Sandy Hook, NJ to the mouth of the Merrimack River. This includes Long Island sound, and the cities of New York, Providence, and Boston.
Looks like the storm will come very close to the Outer Banks on Saturday, then head for Long Island, likely making landfall in eastern Long Island, then crossing into eastern CT or RI, and across eastern Mass. While this is slightly better news for NYC, it is very bad news for much of eastern New England. It will likely still be a Cateogry 1 or weak Category 2 when it gets up to Long Island and New England.
I'm actually looking forward to this storm, haha. I love storms.
I'm currently on the North Shore, about 20 miles north of Boston.
Amen. My property has many old, tall trees. I hate wind.I hate storms, they cause me to clean up after them, people that like them don't own any land with trees on said land.
That's just a normal LILCO Sunday, though. We are expecting to lose our power on Sunday.
That's just a normal LILCO Sunday, though.
I last lived on Long Island in 1981. I guess it shows.LILCO was so bad they don't even exist anymore. Now LIPA, which is one of the most expensive utilities in the country.
