Getting the thread back on track now that the whining about *******s seems to be over (ffs ... I self-applied that label in this place like 10 years ago).

Dear Whiners,
Welcome to 2002.
Yours Truly,
******* #1

______________

There are a couple of things that one can generally predict about the WCHA. The first is that the big boys likely won't show huge variability in the standings. The other is that at least two teams will surprise compared to expectations -- one positively and one negatively in a typical season. So in my mind to be predictive you first have to make a broader generalization about each program and how many points it will get. Here's mine. Same = within 4 points of last season; Up = more than 4 points; Down = any points less. It's admittedly an arbitrary rating system using less than useful descriptive terms. So it's perfect for this thread.

Denver - Same/Down
UND - Same
Gophers - Same
CC - Up
UMD - Down
SCSU - Same
Mankato - Same/Down
MTU - Up
UAA - Up/Same
Bemidji - Same/Down
Bucky - Same/Down
Uno - Same/Up

2. Mcleods last year in WCHA
3. WCHA offices relocate

McLeod has a two year contract so he probably isn't going to be gone until the end of his contract. I would be willing to bet that MSU-M "won't" be in the WCHA... They have to still come up with a few million before they can even start their hockey program.

Re: 2011-2012: WCHA Predictions - Summer Edition

I think DU is loaded and runs away with it. I'd pick CC up there next except the defense to me is suspect and goaltending is pretty average. I think the CC forwards are the best in the NCAA though. I look for UND late also and I think UMD will be tough. so here's my darts as well. It's worth it to pick a few upsets as nothing ever goes as it appears.

1. DU
2. UMD
3. UND
4. UNO
5.CC
6.AA
7 UMTC/Becky
8. STC
9.MTU
10. Beavers
11.Mankato
How does DU run away with the title when they don't even have a proven serviceable starting goaltender?
