Well, I don't disagree with your sense of urgency, but I heard Lucia is close to getting a 3-year extension. I'm confident he'll get things turned around. Getting Guentzel back was a BIG first step.

Close? No. Done. Signed.

Nice.

However, is it the same type of extension Brewster signed?

Not sure. I'm not too worried though. I think Hill was more of a problem than anything, and he's gone. Recruiting looks good. Team looks motivated (yet young). It'll turn around :)

Hell Yeah! It got me jacked too!

"Defend Our History"!
I'm going to be out of town and not able to watch the game live but I'm getting very excited to watch the replay of the game at midnight and pretend like I'm watching it live:D

I'm probably going to watch both, but I'm what you could classify as obsessed ;)

Just saw that UNO is planning an outdoor game vs UND in 2013. If they can afford to do it, it baffles me as to why Maturi is dragging his feet on playing an outdoor game in the State Of Hockey.

Cause it's massively expensive. TCF Bank isn't big enough to house the number of people you need to pay for it.

According to Maturi this morning both sides are protected in the deal. So, probably.

I had a 1-2 minute talk with Maturi while tailgating at the Gopher football game.

Regarding Lucia:

"He's a great guy and they are going to have a very good year".

So rest easy guys, it's all good.

But they can make it work in the 24,000 seat Ameritrade Park in Omaha?

I don't see how. From what I understand it costs over 5 grand just to convert the Kohl Center back and forth from B-Ball and Hockey.

I guess that's their plan. I'd pay hundreds of dollars, per ticket, to see the Gophers play outdoors. I just don't see how they can't find a way to make it work. Really irks me.

TCF bank field also doesn't have a heating system under the field right?
I remember them saying something about that when the Vikings had to play there.
I would think not having a system in place for either heating or cooling could make it very difficult to put an ice rink on the field.

How about Target Field? There has been talk about UND playing there, but no talk about the Gophers. How embarrassing would it be to this program to NOT be the first team to play an outdoor game here.

Maturi might be a nice guy, but he is a brutal AD for our revenue sports.

Huh?? Why would that have anything to do with it? They put in a portable system and rink to have ice for about 24-48 hours, it's not like they have to heat the field to prevent permafrost. And it's not like they would use the field heating system to also freeze the rink.
