Depends on where your tickets are. With all the below, keep in mind the Gophers are already the most expensive ticket in college hockey by far.

Let’s take a look at what this whole thing gets down to then. While this isn’t official, it comes from an unnamed “reliable source” — wow, I always wanted to be able to say that, just like the big time reporters!
The folks that will get to pony up $500 per ticket (on top of their season ticket cost of $35/seat/game) now are in sections 7, 8, 9, 17, 18, 19 plus the suites. The non-suite season tickets will go up from $747 to $1,247, a whopping 67 percent.
The lesser peons in the poorer seats in sections 5, 6, 10, 16, 20 and 21 will only have a 33 percent increase of $250/seat. Then the folks like me who are in the corners (sections 3, 4, 11, 15, 22, 23) will only have to fork over $100/seat — a measly 13 percent.
The three sections behind the net where the Gophers “only shoot once”* (sections 1, 2, 24) will not be assessed a donation. The student section will be combined in sections 12, 13 and 14.

You are quoting an out of date article. The actual donation requirements per seat will be $300, $200, and $100. The 500, 250 and 100 model was what they used for TCF, and was the original plan for both Mariucci and Williams, but then moved those back to the 300, 200, 100 model.

Thanks! This is better :)

Penticton website now lists Mario Lucia as committed to Notre Dame:

No surprise, but it's still disappointing for obvious reasons. It is good to see that all three Reilly brothers are off to a good start.

Agreed. If true, it's disappointing, but hardly surprising. Indeed, it is nice to see the Reilley bros thriving. Hoping we'll hear a decision from Cammarata sometime soon :)

I never wanted to say anything, but I am somewhat glad that Mario is going elsewhere - and before anyone freaks out it has nothing to do with talent. I think there's a whole ton of potential manufactured drama saved by him not playing for dad.

Absolutely. Tony was under constant, and completely undeserved, scrutiny from the fanbase. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if tDon may have edged him towards Notre Dame.

tDon2 (Tony) had my full respect. He's a grinder. Something that the Gophers needed. He never quit.

Oh, I completely agree. I wish we had a team of Tonys. Some people just had it out for him because his last name rhymed with the coach's last name.

Yep. He wasn't a stats guy. I never pretended that he was. But he made things happen. Solid 2nd liner. Nothing more, nothing less. What talent he didn't have, he made up with, with effort and toughness.

My sentiments exactly.

Sometimes there is no issue with a son playing for his father at this level; sometimes it is a real problem.

We all saw what the team looked like the last time that situation occurred at MN.
I'm not comfortable with experimenting to see if that was due to other circumstances, or if it would be different this time around.

And, in addition to the effort, he seemed to have a knack for making the right pass at the right time - a great team guy.

That said, from what I've seen of his younger brother Mario, both in high school and at the Wild prospects scrimmages, Notre Dame is getting a very talented player.

Definitely. It is disappointing but, as you said, there is a ton of drama that will be avoided this way.

Mario is a great player, but IMO I think there are other players that will be more important for us to land. My attention has and will continue to be on Cammarata and Fasching.

Agreed.

Good luck to Mario at Notre Dame.

Alternate Captains Named for 2010-11 Season

Redshirt sophomore Zach Budish and seniors Jake Hansen and Joey Miller will serve as alternate captains for the Minnesota men's hockey team for the 2011-12 season, coach Don Lucia announced today. The trio will join senior captain Taylor Matson in leading the Gophers this year.

"Our players voted for the alternate captains, and I think they picked three very good leaders", said Lucia. "Zach, Jake and Joey each bring different and unique leadership skills to the dressing room and the ice. However, one thing they have in common is that they are all very hard workers and are of high character. They will do a fine job of helping Taylor lead the team this year."

Budish had six points in seven games last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury in late October. Hansen is the team's leading returning goal scorer with 11 tallies last year. Miller is the team's oldest player at 24. He has three points in 42 career games. *

Five years is a long time. Maybe Don will still get a chance to coach him, at Notre Dame.

Fine, 3 years is a long time...

I really like Lucia, but he needs to get this turned around, like now.

Well, I don't disagree with your sense of urgency, but I heard Lucia is close to getting a 3-year extension. I'm confident he'll get things turned around. Getting Guentzel back was a BIG first step.
