The Wings lost the series because they were tired from games played 11 months ago?

The Wings lost because their heavier schedule over the last two years gave them less time to recover than their opponents. You could make the argument that they demonstrated this problem from the Europe trip at the beginning of the season through the Olympic break.

Missed my response.

Just because I missed it doesn't mean I selectively read it.

The Wings did alright considering how crappy the season was until the Olympic break. We get Hudler back, hopefully Lidstrom, and we'll see if Howard will become the #1. Things could be much worse.

Congrats Nick. Don't be too loud to your friends and dad, remember the Hockey Gods are still listening. :p

Or we could just say that the Wings are a team that has been up and down with injuries and whatnot for most of the year, who lost to a team that is long overdue for at least a SCF appearance.

We lost to the better team this season. Period.

Do you really believe that?

I'm not going to win this argument, so I'm going to stop it here -- winning four one-goal games does not make a convincing argument to me for overwhelming superiority, especially when the fifth game of the series was a 7-1 rout. They were the better team at the right times, particularly the last 10 minutes of third periods and the overtime, which I think speaks to the original argument I made about legs.

Maybe not, but only scoring one goal when your season is on the line doesn't make for a convincing argument that you're a superior team either.

Great teams win the close ones. The Sharks deserved this series and they won. Good for them. Hopefully they win the next two, too. SJ is the best team left out there, and I'd be pretty surprised if they don't win the Cup.

You're right...you're not going to win this argument.

Is that you, Brendan Morrison?

I'm going to postulate that these are the only legs of Swedish descent worth discussing at this time.

You're making me actually research this, you know.

I always prefer this one:

17. If you're an American woman and visible former actress, and you marry the most famous Canadian hockey star of all-time, and eventually he becomes the man in charge of putting together a Canadian Olympic hockey team, and they end up playing the Americans for the gold medal in a game that's taking place in a U.S. city, and you show up for that game cheering for the Canadians, and you're hugging everyone in sight as the Canadians are putting the game away in the third period ... well, you have to leave the country immediately. And you can't come back. Ever.

The Wings lost because they were the lesser team. I wanted Jimmy to get them to the promised land but it wasn't to be.

Detroit lost because their D wasn't their usual selves. Jimmy did good, but he was overwhelmed. This team needs to make some adjustments and maybe get a backup that Babcock will actually use.
