Well there are plenty of situations where a stick gets lifted into someone, and the person who's stick was lifted gets called because they "have to keep control of your stick."

If they are going to call those, then they should call ones on follow-throughs, that's all.

Sidenote: If a player starts bleeding on the ice, what do you think about video review to see how it happened, if the ref missed a call?
Follow through hits happen, and have resulted in serious injuries too. But you need to keep the non-call rule in place or else players will never shoot.

You rarely have time to get a shot off in the NHL, you never have enough time to think about where your follow through will end up, if you're responsible for it. Sometimes the results aren't pretty, but I'm fairly sure the players all understand why it's not a penalty.

Ouch, but it is really tough for me to feel bad for a Vancouver Canuck.

For all those interested, HBO has a new documentary out on the Flyer's of the mid 70's called the "Broad Street Bullies." As always, well done by HBO.

Debunked. Didn't actually happen.

By the way, USA lost to Denmark in overtime today. Oops.

Not on the ice, no. Maybe later on he did.

Where the hell is Ryan Miller when you need him? It looks like the relegation round for US.

He had a tee time with his brother Drew this morning. ;)

Not quite. If they beat the Finns they're fine. If they lose in regulation to Finland, they're off to play against (likely) Italy, Kazakhstan and France. If they lose in overtime, they have to hope that Germany will have already lost to Denmark in regulation.

Group D standings:

Denmark 5
Finland 3
Germany 2
USA 2

The funny thing is that aren't these tourneys worth as much in the "rankings" as the Olympics?

They unveiled the Orr statue today in front of the TD Garden.

If/When the Bruins advance to the ECF, I'll be going down for a game and I'll be sure to get some close up pictures.

Marred by Mayor "Mumbles" Menino's total ineptitude as a public speaker, who lumped the Orr goal in with Varitek's "ionic" splitting of the uprights to win a Super Bowl. (Because Varitek and Vinatieri are soooo similar)

I am looking forward to seeing the statue though.

Most definitely, the IIHF is the governing board. Of course, you don't want to be fighting off relegation the year before the Olympics. Then it becomes a huge hassle as the Top 9 get free passes to the Olympics and the last three spots are fought for in a qualifying tournament.

If only he'd said Finals instead of Super Bowl, he'd have had a trifecta.
