Just to clarify. The Rangers are still paying Redden's salary but they get ALL the money off the books as far as the cap is concerned?

This should be our motto.
The guys over at Lighthouse were already fighting about who to take 1 overall when Streit got hurt. And they're usually optimists.
I guess Matt will just have to score 40 this year.

I wonder daily how he and Dudley put together Chicago. Left on their own, they seem hell bent on making sure the Capitals win the Southeast division by 50 points each year.

No it isn't that confusing of a move. It's a "hey, sorry the former GM *ed our farm club without lube, how about we help you (Rochester) market your AHL club" move. The Panthers are paying to have a known NHL name be the star center in Rochester, without losing any prospects or dealing with Nylander as a liability as a Panther.
He's still Capitals property, the only thing that changes is that he:
- Reports to Rochester, NY instead of Hershey, PA.
- *edit* His direct deposit may not even change.
The Red Wings and Griffins worked out a similar deal last year (moreso the Griffins). Hershey didn't want him, and the Griffins wanted him to help mentor the Wings prospects.
It's also kinda like how Sean Avery was loaned to the Hartford Wolf-Pack. Except don't expect Florida to trade for his NHL rights in a couple months.

The initial Puck Daddy report stated that Florida was on the hook for his salary - which would have been completely idiotic...who would take on someone else's 4M problem and sit him in the minors?

Holy $h!t is Taveras next?
How about DP?...he'll be the one that doesnt get injured this season...that franchised is just cursed since the Core of the Four...I'm okay with it though
