So are the Rangers signing/trading for every mediocre forward that slots into a bottom 6 role? They signed Tim Kennedy today on a 1 year, $550,000 1 way deal. Jeebus.
I think Kennedy really benefited from being on the same line as Grier. I definitely agree that he works hard on every shift. And, I was excited to see (another) college guy playing in the NHL, especially for my team.Meh.
He's young, quick, and works hard every shift.
He may be undersized but he still put 10 pucks in the net last year which is better than almost any other bottom 6 forward the Rangers had.
I don't mind it.

But, he did get pushed out of Buffalo (his hometown), and so some questions are certainly being raised.
Still counting down the days that we can somehow unload either or both Redden/Roszival's contracts. The team will not have a chance at being a contender until they can get rid of 2 of the Redden/Roszival/Drury contracts.
Yeah, I've been saying for a while that Rozsival isn't nearly as overpaid as the other two. I think some fans have a knee-jerk anti-Euro sentiment and he's been victimized by that. You can take Rosival out of the equation, while he's overpriced, he's not that much above his pay grade. Last year at the end of the season he was arguably the Ranger's second best defenseman and was playing like a 4 mil a year dman.

It was already announced that he'd be taking on the role of an "advisor" for the Red Wings, but today the news is official:
Cheli is now retired.

It doesn't seem possible.
Honestly, I think we've seen adequate players but have this mindset that if you aren't as good as Leetch or Messier, then you're worthless and you don't belong on the ice.Or Rangers fans aren't used to seeing what adequate hockey players look like and just assume everyone on their team is Wade Redden or Chris Drury?
Wow, Cheli retired? Talk about the end of an era, he'd been in the NHL since before I started following.
A French reporter is stating from a "very very" reliable source that unless Carey Price gets 3M per season, he's "going on strike".
* I'd be surprised if money actually is the major hold up. I would think it is more likly term (Price's camp wanting a shorter deal, where as the Canadiens would prefer to lock up a couple more of years). 3M is within the neighborhood of what I've seen most people suspect he'll get.
* Both sides are stupid. The Habs were dumb to trade Halak before getting Price signed. Price is stupid for further alienating a fan base that has not been in his corner for the past 18 months.
I know there are other RFA's still unsigned - and some big ones at that - but nobody of the same importance to their team as Price. That being said, I wouldn't shed a tear at all if they went in a different direction and left him on the sideline this year.
The Habs were dumb to trade Halak for the potential of a guy who can't stand the heat of the Montreal kitchen. I'm still 95% sure that if Price ever becomes a top ten goalie, it'll be after being traded from Montreal. He'd probably do a million times better in some city with 4 reporters following the team and no one knows his face.
The Price thing is crazy, but the reporter that had that "exclusive" is pretty well known in Montreal. I've got my grain of salt out for it but it's not like it's Eklund we're talking about here.
You hit it on the head, both sides are really dumb here.
Look what happened with the whole Ribiero thing. He goes to Dallas, grows up, starts hitting the weight room, and now he's pretty good. Still dives like he belongs on the Olympic team, but you can't fix everything.
RDS countered with a story that said "talks have progressed but there's still a long way to go". Great. It's not like training camp starts in two weeks or anything.
