2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

As soon as tomorrow, Antti Niemi will be signing in San Jose for probably a 1 year, 2 million deal.

I officially have no ****ing idea what the hell Doug Wilson is thinking.

It could be worse. At least you're not a Bruins fan.

So...did anyone catch this last night? And if so - thoughts?

Not sure I like the whole "We know you overstepped the CBA, but we're going to look the other way" aspect.

Which is why I think an arbitrator should side with the NHLPA now. That kind of ultimatum is BS. No way the PA accepts a deal like that when the current CBA is going on.

It's a concession to smooth out the waters regarding Kovalchuk and the other deals they begrudgingly approved and continued to "investigate." Not saying that makes it right, but that's what it would be.

Who did you want them to sign or do you think they're already set between the pipes?

EDIT - I guess I don't see Niittymaki as a true #1.

They were fine as is. 45-50 starts for Nitty, and 35 for Greiss to see if he had what it takes at the NHL level. Instead, they're spending $4 million on inferior goaltending. Niemi's rebound control is going to kill him on a team where Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook aren't on the ice most of the night.

Wallin and Huskins will make sure there are no rebounds!

Of course, there won't be rebounds because opposing teams will get such good looks at the net that neither goalie will be able to stop the shots. :(

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Niemi fluctuates. He has one good game where he gets absolutely shelled when the blue-liners decide to watch the game rather than play, and then goes and sh**s the bed the next game when the rest of the team decides to actually play.

Are Niemi and Niittymaki going to make the sharks go 82-0-0-0 en-route to another 16 straight wins? Absolutely not. But they've both been surprise answers to the question of "Oh God, who in the hell is going to stop the puck tonight for our team?"

Antniitty Niemimaki

Embrace the name.

The Sharks have two Fins?

I kill me.

Everyone sing along! :D

The NHL and NHLPA have come to some sort of agreement to be announced later today. The Kovalchuk signing will happen because of this agreement.

Thank f-cking Christ.
