2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Given that Pronger and Hossa were on Cup finalist teams under bad contracts, I think the league has no choice but to replay the 2010 Stanley Cup with the Conference runner-ups. :D ;)

Well, Pronger was still on his last contract last season, his extension only takes effect this upcoming year. :p

Also, Capitals were apparently the team playing in the SCF anyway since they won the Prince of Wales trophy. This was spread around on the internet about a week ago, then called a hoax, and the Hall of Fame confirmed it was a hoax. But then they changed their mind and admitted it was real. Interesting saga.

Tomas Kaberle is still a Maple Leaf.

The answer to Kaberle’s immediate future became clear at midnight Sunday when Burke couldn’t reach a deal with two or three final suitors before Kaberle’s no-trade clause was re-activated for 2010-11. But a new slew of questions arise regarding the defenceman’s place on the team that has tried its hardest to trade him several times the past few years.

Burke was ready to move on without Kaberle.

“But we aren’t going to give him away,” Burke warned last week.

If he stays, Burke could have the strongest Leaf defence in recent years with Phaneuf, Kaberle, a healthy Mike Komisarek, Francois Beauchemin, Luke Schenn, Carl Gunarsson and Lebda. But that likely means a one-way contract sits every game night. In reserve are Jeff Finger, whose fat contract will likely be absorbed in the minors if he doesn’t re-gain his spot at camp, and the up-and-coming Keith Aulie, Jesse Blacker, Juraj Mikas and Korbinian Holzer.

So Hawks single-game tickets go on sale in 12 minutes...

The seats that I was buying off the streets just 3 years ago for $5 will have a face of $40... For the home opener, I'm sure the street value of the same seats will be well over $100... Nice profit to be had I guess, but it's still a hell of an initial investment...

What does an upper level ticket go for elsewhere around the league? I know Toronto is insane...

$10 for about 3000 of the seats at Xcel for the Wild. Otherwise the standard prices apply ($40+).

Where do you find $10 tickets for the Wild? I've never found them that cheap and I want in on the secret! :p

What I have seen lately is about $30-$40 for the cheapest upper level seats, which is quite a bit more affordable than the $80 just to get in the building during their first 5 years or so.

They might have raised the prices, as the lowest I see is $24. But for quite a few seasons they had set aside some seats at $10. My inaugural game ticket was that price.

Oh, are you talking about buying from the team? I never think far enough ahead for that and usually end up buying on the street or craigslist, so I get the inflated prices. :p

Balcony Center Ice seats in Boston are $59-$89...I remember going to a game in '07 and paying $20.

...Granted, those are face value from Ticketmaster. I got QF Game 4 tickets in the balcony for $90, and SF Game 1 tickets in the corner for $105.

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Well that was a waste... Every game I tried to get came up empty or SRO... Stupid bandwagon... Hopefully I can start buying tickets off the street cheap again once the hype dies and the team falls into their 2nd-4th place slot...

Overall, I figured that $40 would be on the high end for an upper level ticket... Granted that is on the ends and high... Lower half of the upper deck in the middle goes for $75 here in Chicago...

This is really getting to the point of pricing a lot of people out... I know that corporate season tickets drive the ship now, but it's still sad and insulting to see :(

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

Attention everyone, I'd like you all to try and contain your laughter, the Thrashers have gone out and signed a free-agent defenseman. Someone who is quite infamous around this forum.

The Thrashers have signed...

Freddy Meyer. (HACK!)

Yeah, but they don't have a home game the night before the Frozen Four so what use is that? :p

Re: 2010 NHL Off-Season: Sather is a dink

They have one the day after the Frozen Four ends. It's even against Dallas.
I saw that, but it's at 5pm meaning if I flew back that night I'd get home well after midnight.

It's not really an issue (as compared to this past year) though because the Frozen Four is actually at the Xcel Center, whereas with the FF at Ford Field I wouldn't get to see the Joe. I don't have any particular desire to see the Wild, it's much more important for the Twins to be at home.
