2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Capuano replaces Parra in the starting rotation - it also says they're not going to call up any starting pitchers when rosters expand, but they will call up some relievers.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Carlos Gomez would like you to know he's the best center fielder on the Brewers, in case you were wondering. I'm not sure he's wrong, considering they have a rookie and Chris Dickerson as the other options, but it seems a little Sheffieldish to be spouting off about it to the press. I hope Cain proves him wrong.
I'm glad he said something. He's held off on showing us so I wouldn't have known this if he didn't tell us.

Is he arbitration eligible? Do they even bother with him if he is? I think they'll look to give him away for nothing this offseason. He's one of those looks like Tarzan plays like Jane guys.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

A lot of shady stuff there really, when you look at the reasons given for the lack of details:

Why aren't they elaborating on the robbery? What are they holding back from the police? What exactly are they doing at a grocery store parking lot that late in the night? Where they really there to buy groceries?

Boy, if you tried to connect dots or try to speculate here, you can arrive at some pretty bad conclusions.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Trouble will find you at bar time. I'm sure he was trying to forget about the day's performance and he certainly has every right to be out of he wants, but buyer beware because a lot of bad things happen at that time of night.

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Jeremy Jeffress, Carlos Villanueva and Mat Gamel are the first September call ups.

Braun's home run voted top moment of the 2000s. I believe Sausagegate may have been a close second, but not sure on that. ;)

Just in case anyone missed it - Lorenzo Cain's amazing catch from Monday.

I couldn't find it but Escobar's catch & throw for a dp last Fri was lights out.

Edit: And he almost made another brilliant play seconds ago

It's usually great when you can say your team just finds a way. Unfortunately we have to tack on "to lose" with this year's bunch. How frustrating to get 4 HRs of Halliday and still lose.

he's the second best center fielder on the bench, though.

Gomez still sitting: With Lorenzo Cain playing well in center, Carlos Gomez has not started a game since returning from the DL (concussion) on Aug. 24. With newcomer Chris Dickerson getting some starts in center, Macha indicated no plans to play Gomez.

"For now, he's a bench player," said Macha. "We sat down with him and laid out what's going on. He's well aware of what's happening.

"He knows why. His on-base (percentage) is .284."

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

My disappointment with Gomez isn't how lousy he has been. It just sucks to give up a proven player at a prime position for this headcase they will turn around and give away for nothing this offseason.

I wonder exactly what a fan in his seat a couple rows back could possibly say to get ejected by a home plate umpire...

Edit: whatever the guy said he thought it was pretty funny at the time when he got escorted out but I bet he's kicking himself now :p

ha :) that guy was REALLY loud. He says he didn't swear, though - http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/102409399.html - but I can't imagine trying to do your job with that moron screaming in your ear.

Whatevs. Heckling is part of pro sports. If he was being obscene, I can understand having him removed to try to keep Miller Park family friendly. But from what I can tell, he was removed at the request of the Cardinals (who seem to be up on their pedastal as the keepers of all things anal-retentive in baseball) because of something he was saying to Molina.

In either case, I just want to know what he was saying.

That was the capper in a crazy evening at the ballpark last night. The cardinals really need to get their undergarments unbunched before they come to the game each night. Glad I got to see Trevor get #600. I was also at Yount's 3,000th hit game way back in 1992, so those ticket stubs will be kept together. :)

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

The real question: would the Cardinals have just had their pitchers throw at the fan if they couldn't get him ejected?

Re: 2010 Milwaukee Brewers - Pitching: Quantity, or Quality????

Some choice tweets re: Bob Davidson(from joesportsfan.com):

@miklasz: I'm sure the fans at Miller Park are pleased that they spent good money to watch Bob Davidson tonight.

@boxcar_fritz: If an ump ever kicked me, as a fan, out of an MLB game, I would commit suicide immediately, as my life would then be complete.

@2xAught7: Coming up on your promo schedules: Bob Davidson Bobble Thumb Night.

@JohnMarecek: Bob Davidson is having a big night for my umpire fantasy team.

@jasoncollette: Bob Davidson needs to eject a beer vendor to complete the cycle tonight. Player, coach, and now a fan have been tossed.

@Haudricourt: Bob Davidson ejects other three umpires in his crew for showing up wearing the same clothes as he's wearing.

@joe_sheehan: ****. Bob Davidson just ejected me from my living room.

@BBernsen: What are the chances Bob Davidson 's wife gets tossed out of the house over a s***** meatloaf?

If you look at it as a salary move (letting Hardy and Cameron go), it doesn't seem as bad, plus hopefully Cain will start next year, and he is also cheaper than Gomez. You know, more money for when they re-sign Fielder and pick up an ace this offseason. ;)

Prince might as well take a seat in the box for his first AB because LaRussa was furious with fans for disrespecting the game by clapping while his team was losing.

That was an awesome moment for a great guy (Hoffman's 600 not some idiot being ejected). Seeing the excitement with the rest of the team is all you need to know. I hadn't been that excited about a moment in Brewers' baseball since Braun's 8th inning HR against the Cubs on the final day of the 2008 season.
