2010 Division III Commitments

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

He's not a DIII commitment, but it's still a commitment that is relevant:

Golden heading to Lebanon Valley.

Dawstar Video Scouting Services congratulates Temiscaming Royals graduating forward Shane Golden for acquiring a scholarship with Lebanon Valley College. The 1989 birth year forward who registered 18 goals and 30 assists for 48 points in 49 games with the Royals last season will play on the Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen who are moving from the NCAA Division III ECAC West to the American College Hockey Association for the fall of 2010.

The Wilmington, Delaware product, who turned down another offer from an NCAA D III school, is excited to join the Flying Dutchmen team located in Annville, Pennsylvania.

The ACHA Varsity hockey team is coached by former NHLer Tony Horacek.

Apparently LVC's ACHA team is STILL more of a draw than some DIII schools. Maybe it has something to do with that NHL coach... or maybe it has something to do with ice time... ;)

Ok, lets put Jeff Beaney and Southern Maine in on the action with goaltender Ian Edwards.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Some of these lists are amazingly long especialy with some teams that are fielding more than 20 returners. Wentworth, Castleton, and Utica seem to be winning the race on how many kids they can bring in and these three schools must be very nice for even kids that are recruited that might get cut or never player to still enjoy being at the school.

The Edwards thing looks pretty solid, but the rest looks more like a list of "this is where our kids are going to college" than a list of recruits. A couple of the schools on the full list (Ohio Wesleyan, Syracuse, etc) don't even have ACHA teams! I'll be following up on this, but Edwards is the only one I'm going to post on the list right now.

EDIT:
And in looking at the team... they had a 14-22-0 record against what averages out to be about a Jr. B schedule (some Junior A, some Midget, and some prep schools). I can't imagine a team like this would place so many of their roster on NCAA teams... but I'm ruling anybody out, I'm going to follow up on these reports.

Edwards is going to USM: I can confirm that...

I agree (looks more like a list of "this is where our kids are going to college" than a list of recruits.), I came across the list while cross-referencing Edwards, hence the emphasis on it being a "cut & paste", if I get a chance, I'll check out some of the others.

EDIT:
Here is some more on them.
Particularly:
Bridgton Academy defensemen, Trey Rasmussen(West Tisbury, MA/Martha's Vineyard High School), has committed to play at Salve Regina. The 6'1", 200 lbs Rasmussen will bring his high intensity style of play to the Seakhawks for the 2010-2011 season.

Bridgton Academy Ice Hockey Captain Kyle O'Connell (Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham High School)has committed to continue his hockey career at New England College. The 6'1" 200 lbs defensemen has been a dominating force for the Wolverines blueline and should continue punishing players next year at NEC.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Some Plattsburgh State fans seem to be a little hard on Bridgton Academy. I have no knowledge about the recruits in question but current Norwich Cadet Eric Siegel, 6-2 220 lbs was a very effective forward for Norwich last year before he got injured in the early part of the season. I believe he was on the third line with Blake Forkey and Kyle Thomas. He is a power forward type and should have a good season for Norwich this year.

I don't think anyone is being hard on Brighton Academy. Rather, he just doesn't want to slap all those names on the list before confirming they will all be playing hockey there as well. Odds are most will be, but we still want to make sure we have things confirmed before listing a kid. This has been discussed before.
