2010 Division III Commitments

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Mr. Webb

If you could post this one to the West, Lake Forest adds a big time defenceman. Is this a sign of things to come in the Forest?

Name: David Sharpe
Team: LaSalle Vipers
League: GOJHL
HT/WT: 5"11", 185
Hometown: Windsor, Ontario, Canada
Stats: 49GP (21-47-68) 72PIMS

Thanks for all you do for West D3 Hockey!!!

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

I hope this guy has a great career for Lake Forest, but I would temper my excitement if I were you. He played the equivilent of Tier III Junior A, not the best competition in junior hockey. He'll have a hard time putting up 15 points even in that league.

You just summed up in 3 sentences how little you know about Junior Hockey. You are telling me that the GOJHL is equivalent to the CSHL???? Have you looked at Adrian's roster???? half the kids are from that league. How many CSHL players have gone on to play in the OHL??? one...maybe, that league is a feeder for the OHL teams and this kid has 2 titles in 3 years. Hell, Lake Forest may challenge Adrian this year. May God have mercy on your soul, cuz people as dumb as you are the same people that play in traffic.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

GOJHL is a good league which produces some good DIII players. Just look at Neumann last year they had a few players from that league. Casey, Cole, Stoyonavich, Van Slyke, Hedden, Slipacoff....and played in the GOJHL and had great years in college. Hill from Buff State is another player that came from that league. 63 points for a d-man, thats a great pick up for lake forest.

You're offside on this one Tucker. The league has a very large footprint in the province of Ontario. The elite players that opt for college over the OHL are considered blue chip and heavily recruited by more DI programs than DIII.

I'm not sure how or why this kid slipped through the cracks, but I like his chances of having a great college career at Lake Forest....except vs Adrian. ;)

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

All I said was to temper your excitment based on the strength of the league and competition he played in. There are more quality Tier III Junior A leagues than the CSHL, like the EJHL. As far as this league being a feeder league for the OHL, what are you smoking, the OPJHL/CCHL send twice as many kids to the OHL as this league.
Putting up 63 points is great, but i remember the Wellington Dukes in the 2008-2009 season had two d-men each put up over 50 points, and niether one put up over 9 last year as Freshmen. Not the same competition as Junior B, and probably not the same playing time.
Seeing as how you brought up Adrian lets take a close look at them. Last year playing in the weakest conference in the West the only non-conference games they won were against St. Johns and Concordia MN. not exactly the MIAC's best. Other than the good game they played against St. Norbert in nationals, not much to brag about. Thers alot of teams that could have that record in that league.
So lastly Pepper before you bash my comments, do alittle homework and get your facts straight, and by the way I pray every night that God does have mercy on my soul, maybe you should try it.

They played decent against another Final Four team in Oswego as well.......

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

pal, you need to get YOUR facts straight. 1. canisius college held a christmas tournament a couple years ago with teams from both the EJHL and GOJHL, Leamington Flyers and St. Mary's Lincolns, and they wiped out every EJHL team they played despite being the 7th and 4th place teams in their conference, 2. WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING? tier II junior A in ontario is the same as junior B and some teams are worse, 3. while we're talking about adrian, i believe they have played the US Under 18 team the past 3 years and beat them twice, also go back 2 years to when they played neumann, the eventual national champions, and beat them 10-1, 4. i dont need to do homework because the facts are in, 0% percent of the people on this board agree with you, and 100% of them know more about hockey than you

Oh, Jesus, we're not really bringing this up again, are we?

By the way, your pot shot at Adrian was unwarranted and short-sighted. For the rest of you, just add it to the pile from the last couple of years.

Let's leave this thread for facts, not opinions/snipes at programs/leagues. Everybody is entitled to be excited about new prospects. How good they really are will be revealed in a few months!

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Agreed. I'm curious to see what Adrian is going to do next summer.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Do the tier-II and tier-III junior leagues in Canada have roster restrictions like the tier-I? (Max # of foreign players/overagers)

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

I've been slacking a bit in updating the list...
