2010 Division III Commitments

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Willie, and what ECAC-E team would that be?:)

Excellent observations and borne out at several other schools, one notably in the ECAC-E during this post season. Add to that the fact that some 21+ yo players come from a great distance (in eastern schools), join a class of students normally 2-3 years younger and are thrust into an educational environment with varying levels of demand. I don't know about Utica in the ECAC-W but Elmira and Hobart are academically demanding. All this and they only get to play 25 games in a season, often in relative obscurity.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

Not to diminish the kid's obvious talent, but if memory serves it should be noted the LHJAAAQ is a notoriously high scoring league. That said...I'm sure he's a stud anyway. :)

Yes, but leading a high-scoring league in scoring is a difficult feat, is it not? And while he only had a 2-pt lead on the #2 scorer, he would have had to score 9 fewer to drop out of the top 3, and nearly 20 fewer to drop out of the top 5. Maybe it's a goal-happy league, but it's clear this kid know how to score.

EDIT: Of course, I say "kid" like he's not 2 year older than me... which he is.

Do you have any articles on the latest EC recruits? Those are interesting to read, but the only articles I can find are in french and well I didn't do well in that class.

Unfortunately, no press releases for any of the 4 most recent names. They were all reported/confirmed by a credible source.

As for the french-language stuff... after hours or scouring both the English and French sections of the leagues website, and noting that most of the team websites were no longer accessible, I found nothing pertaining to NCAA commitments... and I did do very well in that class, and continue to do so. (as I said before, I'm a French major in college... spanish major, too)

Very intriguing and interesting class for Elmira.

The first three kids listed are where we are used to seeing recruits come from. But, the three Quebec kids and the two western canada kids are new grounds for the EC program and I'm looking forward to seeing them suit up next year to see how they fit in.

Saul did recruit out of the Quebec leagues when he was in Potsdam and found a few good ones so hopefully that success will translate over to Elmira.

Some of those recruits look like studs.

Can't wait for hockey season and summer is just starting!

Big pick-up for Castleton. Nick Lazorko was the leading scorer a year ago in the MJHL with 103 points, only 60 points this year...must have peaked early;)

Also, rumored that Kevin Sullivan from the Berkshire School is going to Norwich. 20g-43a-63points, not definite, but it comes from a credible source. Could anyone in the NU fan club confirm this?

Some good classes out there as always. I like what Castelton and Wentworth have done thus far. Gives them a chance to compete with the big boys.

As Johnerules says, Kevin Sullivan appears to be headed to Union as per a May 28 posting on the Union website.

Since Union doesn't provide athletic scholarships can the player back out of the D1 commitement and go D3. I believe D1 athletic scholarships are only for 1 year in any event. I read somewhere that college's don't always continue these committements year to year based on various factors. I would think that the financial aid packages from the NESCAC and Ivy League schools in many cases offer more than the partial scholarship.

Re: 2010 Division III Commitments

good class for EC. Amazing what it takes to make a NCAA DIII team now. All these players did really well in their leagues. And they still have to make the team!
