Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I can't make the Maine game on Friday. If anyone wants my tix (2) let me know and they are yours free of charge. I sit in the last row of section 118 (formerly section A).

I'm going to renew my season tickets as I don't think it can get any worse. Go Lowell?

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

As was stated in the season's earlier "Fire Blaise" (or slomething like that) thread, I don't think that a smaller public institution like UML would go for a contract buyout right now, especially with only one year left in the contract and a couple of good recruits coming and better years ahead (I know....can't get any worse). Also, when Blaise's contract expires, will they be able to get an as-good-or-better coach for an amount that the athletic department is willing to pay?

Missed listening to the NU game this weekend. Only the second game I've missed listening to all season. Was sad to see the OT loss. Hopefully the progress continues because, barring a miracle, this year is going to end poorly. Taking one from Maine this weekend would be great.

On an unrelated note, the reason I missed listening to the game was because I was on a flight to New England. Looks like I'll actually be able to make it to a game this season (stupid job travel) and it will be the PC game next weekend. Any recommendations for pregame food? When does the Talon room open before the game? I'd like to check that out at some point. The promotion that night is Star Wars night plus it's the last home game, so should I get tickets in advance or just wait to get them at the gate? Any other recommendations? Thanks all.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I think what we are realizing and commenting is that Lowell is starting to act like a D-I hockey school. When things go well, the coach gets all of the praise and when things go bad, he gets the heat.

I actually was impressed with the timeout in the NU game prior to the PP at the end of the 3rd. I commented to my wife that it may have been one of the better coaching moves he has made this season. However, that being said, the PP was crap, so the coaching during the timeout did not result in the GWG. Blaise had a perfect situation, end of the period, fans pumped wanting to erupt. Instead we go to OT, play hard and walk away disappointed.

It is kinda funny that this, of the previous 2 years I was not a student, is the year I chose to get season tickets for me and my wife. I will be getting them next year as well, regardless if Blaise is back or not. I still get pumped for each game no matter the odds, no matter the opponent. I have just learned to accept that this season we are not going to be able to play with the big boys like in years past, still doesn't mean I wont enjoy going to the games. I just don't enjoy leaving them ...

Glad you're going to make the game. My offer is still open, come on by the Lowell Beer Works, and I'll get you a beer.

Agreed, I was happy to see the TO called at the right time. Just disappointed in the result. As has been the case for most things this season.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Did anyone listen to the radio show tonight? What did Blaise have to say?

Speaking of the PP, what's going on with it? At one point this season it was pretty good, now it's a disaster. It just looks like no one is taking charge and it's killing any momentum the team may have.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

Any word on Soup? Is he done for the season or will he be able to suit up for Senior night in a couple of weeks? He has been such a great player/leader for Lowell and it stinks his senior year was derailed by an injury.

Something I'll never understand, when he does call the time out at the right time, how many times have we seen breakdowns and failed execution. We went from 'we can end the game in regulation' to 'when will we lose in OT'.

I have a witness that will say I missed it by 0.8 seconds.

I'm hearing he's done.

Actually, I was just told that he's been participating in full-contact practice this week and there's a decent chance we'll see him in the lineup this weekend.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I have one of those radios with the knob where you have to find the radio station... Was there no radio show on Tuesday night? If so, I couldn't find WUML for the life of me.

The fight for 9th place continues this weekend.. No way Lowell catches UVM.

Well that's definitely much better than I heard at Beerworks Friday night.

There was no show. Bob Ellis has been under the weather for a few days. (This team's bad luck with health for the season even extends to the press box)

That's much better than I heard on Monday of this week. If he does come back, that would be a tremedous boost for the team, especially with the TV game on Saturday.

They may not even catch UMass, with their schedule, it's not guaranteed they will finish in 7th. At this point, we can't be concerned with standings. Instead, they have to be focused on getting wins during this weekend homestand, the last big draw of the year. Coming up against a Maine team that has had some major goaltending issues over the past two weeks may be what the doctor ordered and very important if Campbell can come back.

Two wins and we can talk about not finishing in last. Two losses and will be trouble.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

IIRC, we have three home games left to help avoid what I'm sure is setting up to be the worst home record ever.

It would be nice to get a little pay back this weekend for that 8-2 loss at Maine. That's where this nightmare of a season got started.

Re: 2010/2011 UML In-Season Thread

I've been told that we can expect to see Scott Campbell on a line with Josh Holmstrom and Patrick Cey tonight.

As Monty (UMLFan) stated I would be more than happy to buy you a beer or two at the Beer Works before the Providence game. Just yell out "Gainzo!" For Saturday games I usually get there around 5.

Just ask one of the bartenders for me ... they'll know. ;)
