2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Really?
So now what happens with Kubel, does he platoon with Young in left?
I would guess that Kubel is still the number 1 DH and that Thome will be used when someone needs a break and as a power hitting pinch hitter.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

"A guy like Jim, he's not going to just come off the bench," Gardenhire said. "We'll get plenty of at-bats for him. Kubel's my DH, and Delmon's my left fielder, and we all know that going into it, and Jim's going to play a role off the bench and spot play at DH."

Mauer, Morneau, Kubel.

So they add Jim Thome?

The Twins needed a left-handed stick?

I bet you're not the only confuzzled one.

I bet even Thome is going...really? ME?!?!?

These are the moves they are making...they arent fixing whats broken just throwing darts at a board filled with random names. Thankfully the Central blows so they will most likely win it :)

Sure. And then get blown out in round 1 of the playoffs again.

Is the rumor that Thome comes packaged with a pinch runner true? :D

Yup...but like I said before enjoy the ride for what it is because nothing we do is going to change anything. Have fun, go crazy, critique and let the chips fall where they may :)

A recent Tweet (bite me Handy ;) ) from Reusse: "Hum is getting louder that Twins will announce Mauer contract extension as kickoff to Twins Fest."

Why? He's either going to hit one halfway to Duluth or trudge back to the dugout after strike 3.

Target Field is configured diffeently than the Metrodump was, Thome will be hitting bombs toward Red Wing. :)

I'm pretty sure Red Wing would be a foul ball. :p I think the configuration of the outfield is facing west-north-northeast.

Nope, Target Field faces Northeast (from home plate to center field) like baseball parks are supposed to...at least the outdoor ones.

Edit: It's so the sun is not in the batter's eye.
