2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Twins are done with arbitration.

I'm not sure Pavano is worth $7 million...

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to contracts with all eight of their players in arbitration, including pitcher Carl Pavano, shortstop J.J. Hardy and outfielder Delmon Young.

The only one of the eight to get a multiyear deal Tuesday was infielder Brendan Harris. He gets a two-year contract worth $3.2 million, including $1.45 million this season.

Right-handed relievers Jesse Crain ($2 million), Matt Guerrier ($3.15 million) and Pat Neshek ($625,000) and left-hander Francisco Liriano ($1.6 million) also get one-year contracts.

Pavano was a free agent who accepted the team's arbitration offer last month. The right-hander gets $7 million.

Young will earn $2.6 million, with $50,000 available in performance bonuses.

Hardy will make $5.1 million.

We live in a world where Jesse Crain can get $2 million. And Delmon gets $2.6M -- after that salary, how much incentive is there in $50K in incentives?

$50k is alot of trips to the OCB, LeCroy style.

On a happier note, here's what Target Field will look like according to MLB2K10.

The angle on the right field bleachers looks silly, but other than that, that would look good.

I'm sure it's not as drastic as that, although Colorado's center field "Rock Pile" is similar to that so you don't lose too much sight of the outfield.

That angle really is there, and it is beacuse of the small footprint and the ramp being behind it.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

In this article here, it says that Thome is rumored to be headed to the Twins. Is that how we're going to win each year, picking up the casted off, broken down former White Sox players? i.e. Crede last year and maybe Thome this year?

MLB Network is showing Game 7 of the 91 World Series right now.

Does MLB2K10 include the smell from the trash incinerator next door?

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to seeing a game at the new digs.
If it's any consolation, you can't smell the incinerator from 1st Ave.

I almost never smell it. The two times I have it was for about a second or two and it wasn't near strong at all. I like to joke about it too, but it is a little overstated.

On the plus side, if he plays for us it limits the opportunity he has to beat us.

Though he still might find a way to do it.

Two important questions answered yesterday. :D

When will single-game tickets go on sale? I can't wait to come up to see the new stadium.

The Twins announced this week that there will be two ways for fans to get single-game tickets. The first is for the club's opening series at Target Field against the Red Sox. Fans can register online for the opportunity to purchase tickets for those games on Friday, Jan. 29 through Wednesday, Feb. 10. A random drawing will then be held to determine who can purchase tickets. Single-game tickets for the remaining home games at Target Field will then go on sale on Saturday, March 13, at 9 a.m. CT.

When is the next time Game 163 will be aired? I missed the Christmas re-air, and I would really like to re-live the amazing game.

The next airing of "163 presented by Best Buy" will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. CT on Fox Sports North. If you can't catch the episode then, you will have two more opportunities to re-live that memorable game. The network will air the three-hour special on Monday, Feb. 15, and Tuesday, March 9 -- both running at 7 p.m. CT.
