2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Honestly, I loved the pinstripe roads. Mainly because they were one of the few teams that did it.

They got old to me. It sounded like them getting rid of them was a long time coming.

1 PM Central should be the AL MVP announcement for Joe Mauer.

If not, it will be a career achievement award for Jeter.

If they're going with the most valuable player in the league, it's Mauer in a landslide.

If they're going with the most valuable player on the most successful team, it's Jeter. Nothing "career" about it. If he won I wouldn't cry too much, considering he was boned out of it a few years ago by a Twins player who wasn't even the most valuable on his team (Santana was, THEN Mauer, THEN Morneau).

That said, I don't think you have anything to worry about. That the writers gave Greinke the Cy Young isn't terribly surprising, that it was so overwhelming definitely was. They may have actually figured things out.

I would say that both A-Rod and Texiera were more valuable Yankees than Jeter this season. His stats are all good, but players on his own team have better. Plus, the Yankees were terrible until A-Rod came back, and suddenly they took off. If he wins it will be because he is "Derek Jeter", not because he was the 1st or even 2nd most deserving player.

I agree in '06, that Morneau fell into that same category and yet he still won.

Joe Mauer is your 2009 AL MVP.

Twins catcher Joe Mauer was named the American League’s Most Valuable Player today by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

He received 27 of 28 first-place votes.

RT @KenDavidoff Keizo Konishi of Kyodo News, based in Seattle, voted Miguel Cabrera first.

RT @LaVelleNeal: From AP: Mauer receives a $100,000 bonus for winning the award, and Cabrera gets $200,000 for finishing fourth.
