2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

I had the exact same. 129, with a couple I shouldn't have missed.

Also: Opening Day DH Lew Ford? Seriously?

Excellent way to spend my last 20ish minutes at work...

131 for me... I'm actually impressed with myself... took me along time in the middle years...

Also, I missed Gaetti... **** it.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

122...well, 126....I had trouble spelling Mientkiewicz...:D

I can't believe who I forgot...

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

129 for me, and yeah, pretty ticked at who I missed as well. Should have had at least 140+

For those who took the quiz, here are some names that I got: Dave Hollins, Scott Stahoviak, Allan Anderson.

And here are some guys I missed: Jacque Jones, Doug Mientkiewicz, AJ Pierzynski, Ron Coomer, Corey Koskie.

Carlos Gomez traded to Milwaukee for J.J. Hardy.

Someone stop Bill Smith, he's at it again.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Looking at contracts and the fact that the Brewers were going to flat out non tender Hardy, the Twins got bamboozled.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

This does remove the worst at-bats on the team. Of course, it also shows how badly Bill Smith cocked up the Santana trade.

Yeah but it also gets rid of Cabrera who while not awesome was at least good at the plate. Hardy batted .229 last year.

Don't get me wrong they had no use for Go Go and I endorse any move that gets him off the team, but this one I dont get at all.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

No more GoGo?

Doesn't really bother me. Dumping Cabrera is pretty lame, though.

Brian Buscher was assigned to AAA Rochester a few weeks ago! There goes the WS...

Maybe they'll convert Hardy to a pitcher since real pitching is too expensive for the Twins...

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

If the brewers spend their savings wisely, they certainly do win this trade since neither has hit well lately and the brewers are saving about $14 mil by making this deal...in all honesty, I think Hardy will do fine for the Twins, he will rebound from his awful 2009 campaign. I'm just surprised the Twins didn't try to keep Cabrera...

Is it out of the realm of possibility that the Twins put Hardy at 3rd or 2nd?

Possible but not likely...you dont bring in a shortstop to play a different position (the NY Yankees not withstanding) I mean was there not an ACTUAL third or second basemen out there?
