2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

I really can't believe the last three weeks. :)

About that play where they had Casilla tag-up: I think you have to send him, and make the other team make the play. It reminded me of that game against the Angels (except it worked in that one :o ) where Shannon Stewart got a hit, bottom the 9th, Percival (?) completely unstoppable as a closer, down by a run, 2 outs. I don't remember who the runner on 2nd was, but he was a freakin' truck. Still, they sent him home, and he was going to be out by eight feet. But he knocked the ball loose when he slid, and Stewart came all the way around to score and win the game. You don't know if you'll get any more chances, so try to make something happen.

a couple things:

1. Short fly ball
2. It was RODNEY on the mound, not Rivera/Nathan/Percival/etc.
3. Terrible tag-up to begin with.
4. Granted, it would have won the game, but it wasn't the TYING run. This point could swing either way, though.

Yes I absolutely do remember games 6 and 7 from the '91 series! I don't know how I couldn't, it doesn't matter that I was 6, you don't remember stuff from when you were 6? Thats sad. I remember having to beg my mom to let me stay up late to watch the ends of the games, she finally gave in and I sat 3 feet from the tv with my homer hankie watching the whole thing.

Same type of story for me for the 87 series. I was only 8, but I remember watching that on the little tv in my room while I was on the top of my bunk bed.

Hey, I love the emotional unbelievable did-you-see-that ending as much as the next guy, but when a dumbf* like me can see there's something basically wrong with a call.......oh man.;)

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Anyone able to get tickets for game three? I've been in this Virtual Waiting Room since the game ended

I was at the game and was assured by a contact in the ticket office I am good in the hood! Trying to order from inside the ticket office was awesome btw!

I seriously have no words to describe the game...I have been to playoff games, I have been to World Series games, but no game has topped the craziness and awesomeness of today's game!

I **** the bed. It gave me 1 minute to fill out my card info, which I did have with me, as well as my entire address, billing info, etc, and I apparently wasn't fast enough. FML.

ALL I WANTED WAS TWO ****ING SEATS!!!! ****!

Typing 101 in high school. Add to that, retail for a couple years. That would have helped ya. ;)

Shirtless guy got in, but is getting the high volume message, but he's past the waiting room thingy. We're trying to get 6 tickets, MNS and Sloe, 2 are yours if we get them and you want to go.

harder than it looks big guy..

If MNS and Sloe don't claim those tickets, I'd love to take you up on that offer....

edit big blue, if he's still at that screen, just keep pressing continue and eventually you'll get in, that's what I did over here. Be ready to type with speed.

Is there a trick to getting in? This is worse than waiting in line for 3 hours...

it's supposedly all random, but I just waited and waited and finally got in. Got tickets behind home row 30 upper level, but **** them away.

I'm not waiting for tix, if that's what you mean. Even if I could get them, no way I could go, as there is -8927538732% chance I get work off.

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

We got to the point to buy tickets, but only could get 2 together. We did best available and they were obstructed view, along the third base line. We're trying to buy them, hopefully these seats aren't too brutal. Sorry guys, couldn't get more than 2...

edit: 2 tickets bought, section 229, row 30, obstructed view...

Man I am glad I have season tickets next year and know people in the ticket office :D

My head is still spinning from the game...we basically stood up from the 7th inning on! The Dome was so friggin loud at times it would make your eyes hurt! When Casilla scored we all basically lost it!

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

I'm in! Right behind homeplate too! Row 31 but I'll be there, behind home plate!!!!!

Re: 2009 MN Twins Part 4: I Was Told There Would Be No Math

Finally got out of the Waiting Room... To the "Sold Out" screen.

Just a note for those that were talking about Homer Hankies...everyone who walked in the door tonight got one...I now have like 10 of them! Nothing beats the originals though :D

Casilla was only out by a hair - if he properly tagged he's easily safe. The only way that was a bad call was if he could have held up once they realized the screw-up, but the original idea to send him was correct.

Billy Blanks - who cares if brain was only 6 in 1991? You clearly weren't and therefore should be wise enough to credit that series had one of the best games ever. Given polls regularly recognize the same it's obvious one needn't be just a Twins fan to agree.

btw - the previous Twins thread had 635 posts at 6:00 and was well over 1,000 by 9:00. :p

It really is a about odds. Casilla scoring on that play is at minimum a 50/50 chance of scoring, Span is a 0.300 hitter. Sending the runner gives you the best chance of scoring.

If there is nobody out when Punto's liner occurs, you hold the runner. There is still only one out then and Span would have lots of ways of getting him in.
