2009 College Hockey Showcase (Minn, Wis, Mich. MSU)

Re: 2009 College Hockey Showcase (Minn, Wis, Mich. MSU)

I thought this was interesting. Don Lucia's new secret weapon: "The God Factor". Wait a minute...if Berenson, Eaves and Comley all pray for the same thing, who does God go with?:D

Easy answer. Comley looks like a bald Hitler, he's out. tDon was the head of a nasty crime family, he's out. Anyone with the first name of "Red" is a commie, he's out. That only leave Eaves left.

Happy Thanksgiving to all the b11 hockey fans.

Right, and wearing red and white isn't a bit USSR-ish? ;)

Big ten conference is being pushed for hockey by the schools that have the most interest in publicizing their football and basketball programs. This will not do one shred of good for the hockey programs at the big ten schools, it's all about bolstering their basketball and football. In Minnesota's case it will hurt them. Loss of rivalries, in state and out of state (Sue), loss of local audience which means lower revenue, and gophers already have 98% (was 99% until I remembered Mich St game isn't on this Saturday) games televised. Who wants to watch Northwestern, Illinois, Penn State, Iowa (ha ha) play hockey?

...the hell?

It might hurt the state of MN: SCSU, tUMD, MSU-M, and BSU, but it won't hurt MN the school. And losing the Sioux game? Are you nuts? There's this thing called non-conference schedules, and if you think that MN won't schedule the Sioux, you are drunker than a Cheesehead after a Packers win.

Win loose or draw against UofMich, I hope none of our Gopher players go out for the season!! The Gophers have been brutal to watch, but this team will get better as the season progresses. Big ten of hockey, yawn, yawn, yawn, it will happen when EA sports produces the college hockey video game!!lol

I forgot about that. The last few years have been costly playing against Michigan with Stoa in 07 and Matson in 08 going down with season ending knee injury's.

You're killing me! I can't believe you and Solovsfett are going to be rooting for the rodents this weekend. How can you root against a guy named "Red" when he's playing the rodents? Softies. ;) The only time I would consider rooting for the rodents is if they were playing BC or BU in the ncaa tourney. I'd be torn as I dislike BC and BU just about as much as the rodents. Of course I won't have to worry about this quandry this year, will I? :D

I'm absolutely rooting for the badgers.

Having said that, if Eaves or Alverez walks away from the CHS...the solution is easy. Change the name to the college hockey spectacle...invite UND and call it a day. After watching MN, MI, MSU and UND for years to come...I think there'd be some regret there among badgers.

MN seems to have been renamed France.

Well then that makes Wisconsin Germany. I like Germany's odds in early March, but there's no way the rodents slide will still be going on then. I can only hope.

Have you seen them play (besides vs WI)?

They play like crap (see: tonight). They lose.
They play average (see: BSU). They lose.
They play unreal (see: tUMD). They lose.

I don't even know what to think anymore, other than there's a crapload of legroom on the ol' bandwagon right now, which is the only comforting thought I have, as I bury myself in the recliner with a fresh fifth of whiskey. :(

Unbelievable performance from the Badgers tonight. Brendan Smith did what he does, produce points, and we finally got a great game out of Derek Stepan. He was due. The way the Badgers can score, we don't need a DOTA. 3 for 5 on the PP is another thing about this game that makes me ask, "Where was that before?" Maybe the NHL sized ice better suits this team. I hope there isn't a letdown tomorrow, but the Badgers showed tonight that they can play with anyone in the nation and are in the same class as UND and Denver.

Oi, rough game for MSU but i will probably be in a minority that doesn't think we overall played too badly. Wisconsin is a pretty good team that took advantage of our mistakes and certainly took what we gave them. We couldn't cash in on our chances and gave up a couple real bad, costly goals that sucked the wind out of us. Wisconsin forechecked hard and caused some turnovers as well.

Oh well, hopefully we crush some Gophers tomorrow.
