Re: 2009-2010 Polls thread
In Niagara's first game with Mercyhurst, they capitalized on their "P-p-purple Eagles P-p-power play" (credit to Niagara's PA announcer....loved him!). No such luck in game two, as Mercy had the 2-0 shutout, and clearly raised their own team speed and effort to meet the challenge.
Niagara heads to Ithaca for two with the Big Red next week. If the Purp's were to steal one or two, it wouldn't shock me, and it shouldn't send Cornell fans jumping into the gorge, either! Don't play down to these gals..... you'll be sorry if you do!
After what I saw this weekend, I believe the Purp's are a legitimate threat to "upset" any opponent on any given night. In the two games against Mercyhurst, despite all the speed that the Lakers possess, I recall only a handful of odd man rushes; I mention that just as an example of Niagara's ability to keep pace and play tough against tough teams. Also, these were two great games turned in by the "keeper of the Eagles's nest".I know that the Purp's new regime has them playing better, but they've been a good-result/bad-result team against all their other opponents.
