Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread
Thoughts on the Dartmouth game
Not too bad a crowd considering the pathetic 4 PM start on a Saturday with plenty of shopping traffic
Nice to see Roos get his first goal. I saw the puck go into the net and back out very clearly before the whistle. Not sure how the ref missed it but thankfully the goal judge got it right and that caused the review which got it right
Not a lot of neutral zone play, mostly up and down and was a fun game to watch as a result with 70 something shots on net.
The UVM PP was awesome the first two chances and again on one of the late chances. Thought Oneil made some amazing stops on a couple of near certain UVM goals. He certainly outplayed Madore IMHO. Thought Madore let in a couple of goals that need to be stopped if this team is going to go far. Maybe not softies but certainly not extremely good chances.
UVM forwards played well, strong passing and forechecking. Nobody stood out dramatically although I thought Downing, Roloff, Vock, Irwin, McCarthy played will in the O zone. Did not think Stacey had a great game. Milo had some chances but he's snakebitten at the moment.
Defensively UVM looked pretty solid and got the puck out of the zone fairly well. Just need to shore up the last minute of each period.
The holiday tournament should be interesting. Hopefully they get the chance to play UMD and beat them. That would be very helpful for the technical ranking. At 4-1 OOC now and getting two wins or a win and a tie in the last two would be huge.
