Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Thoughts on the Dartmouth game

Not too bad a crowd considering the pathetic 4 PM start on a Saturday with plenty of shopping traffic

Nice to see Roos get his first goal. I saw the puck go into the net and back out very clearly before the whistle. Not sure how the ref missed it but thankfully the goal judge got it right and that caused the review which got it right

Not a lot of neutral zone play, mostly up and down and was a fun game to watch as a result with 70 something shots on net.

The UVM PP was awesome the first two chances and again on one of the late chances. Thought Oneil made some amazing stops on a couple of near certain UVM goals. He certainly outplayed Madore IMHO. Thought Madore let in a couple of goals that need to be stopped if this team is going to go far. Maybe not softies but certainly not extremely good chances.

UVM forwards played well, strong passing and forechecking. Nobody stood out dramatically although I thought Downing, Roloff, Vock, Irwin, McCarthy played will in the O zone. Did not think Stacey had a great game. Milo had some chances but he's snakebitten at the moment.

Defensively UVM looked pretty solid and got the puck out of the zone fairly well. Just need to shore up the last minute of each period.

The holiday tournament should be interesting. Hopefully they get the chance to play UMD and beat them. That would be very helpful for the technical ranking. At 4-1 OOC now and getting two wins or a win and a tie in the last two would be huge.

Have I missd anything intelligent?

its jcarter, and to a lesser extent, uvm fans we are talking about here. is this your first day?

btw, that play in your signature was one of my all time favorites. dries was such a dope.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

the last day of the season is the only day the pwr matters. thanks for proving my point that you do not understand it.

now tell us you were just joking again, sieve.

Who said anything different ??? No one, wow you are delusional. Take your psych meds and then lie down until they take affect.

At 4-1-1 in the last 6, 2 more wins in the holiday tournament would give a lot of momentum heading in the second half stretch. Power play and Penalty kill have been much better and it looks like Madore has snapped out of his funk a little bit.

Dartmouth seemed to play very well for their early season struggles. Glad to see the cats pull of a win and also to see Brayden get back on the score sheet. Was surprised to hear McCarthy listed as a team leader in goals. Nice impact freshman.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

apparently not

and I don't see much risk of missing much valuable going forward either as long as UVM continues to attract the angst of the friendless BC and UML fans

Why don't you try and tell them to go away. I'm sure they will listen to you.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

good thing the season ends today

Nice double standard.

Your post talks about the season up to now and so does mine.

So if you knock my post's numbers you are only knocking yourself.

Which I am sure is how is usually goes for you.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Who looks at PWR in December? Fool.

What I want to know is, what do the INCH Power Rankings have to say?

Since when does INCH rankings become so darn important? A few editors and staff from one website? The only rankings that truly matter are the ones used by the NCAA to make the tourney field and last I heard this was not one of them.

my post actually talks about the relative impossibility of achieving the hilariously high standard which jcarter set for the team before the season began.

they teach reading comprehension in like first grade. they also teach what constitutes a complete sentence so my new assumption is that you just didn't go to school.

dammned by faint praise

(i am aware that first word is spelled wrong but i didn't want it to get starred out lest you think i were droppin' F bombs)
Goon, I know you're not the F bomb droppin' type. ;) And I'm not the spelling/grammar police type. After all, this is only a friggin college hockey discussion board!

jcarter made them important when vermont was near the top, of course they are no longer important that vermont has fallen. now pwr is important because vermont is ahead of lowell. we can surmise that once lowell passes vermont in the pwr then something else will be important - though it is unlikely that we would ever revert back to the once all powerful inch rankings.

So what your saying is that you like everyone else pick numbers you like so you can prove your point....DUHHHH.

We all know this but you still didnt answer the question on why we should care about INCH?

And even more interesting is why do you care so much about a VT/UML arguement?

???? Show me or shut up. You have this real knack for making stuff. Its really easy to "win" arguments that way I guess but I am really starting to question your grip on reality.....

A statement like UVM is higher in the PWR then UML is JUST THAT !! It's not an argument that the PWR are the almighty source of rankings, it's not an argument that they are better then any other ranking method, it's not an argument that UVM is going to finish better then UML, it's not an argument at all. It's a freaking statement that as of Dec. 21st 2009, UVM is higher then UML in the PWR. I can't make the point any clearer, so if you still don't get it then do everyone a favor and go down into your bomb shelter and wait for someone to come get you.

Well then what the heck is TinyTheTiger20 on this board for?? I thought sure he was being paid by USCHO to police spelling and grammar???

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

hey remember when you guys thought vermont's offense would be fine without stalberg? i sure do.

jcarter predicted 117 goals this year, down three percent or so from 121 last year. with half of its games played, vermont is at a whopping 45. best of luck picking up 72 in 18 games. only 4.0 per!!!

My prediction would appear to be in jeopardy of being wrong. It happens and I fully acknowledge that fact. Time will tell, but I agree that yes it would appear to be unlikely that UVM will get to 117 goals this year.

Hey, remember when you predicted that lowell would go undefeated? It's in my signature if you forgot.;)

The only thing that matters is the NCAA selection committee. The thing that leads me to believe UVM has a better chance at a berth is that they have wins over stronger OOC teams, ( That ECAC loss hurts UML ) and the fact that UVM has already played BC and took 2 out of three. UML has a to play BC and has a couple games at Maine. Both teams have a hard road ahead, but I think UVM's is a tad easier. The last home series vs UML could be a real pressure cooker!

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

BCWH SuperJackhole, SteveFU, Nick Pappadouchio, UMLTool, ThePervFromDover: If JCarter is such an idiot why do you waste so much time arguing with him on the UVM season thread trying to prove your points to an idiot????????????????????????? I think we know who the real idiots are here. Now move on would ya!!!!
