Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

We can't know about injuries, but my head continues to spin as a fan of Wahs Stacey's! Out tonight against Northeastern. I didn't think I saw him get hurt Tuesday night, at least not before I left. I haven't seen a report of his being injured.

What the heck goes on with this kid? Every once in a while, when I don't expect it, he's just not in the lineup. I always feel Vermont ices less than its best lineup when Wahs isn't in it.

I really like the two defense benchings, but I'm disappointed whenever Wahs is not in the lineup. The line changes seem quite extreme, but something has to create excitement and offense. I thought Roloff with Milo and Vock was a good combination, but if mixing things up lights a fire, let's go!

The Cats need to start playing well and winning games.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Stallberg, Strong, Carlson, Lenes are all missed tremendously. Stallberg for obvious reasons, Lenes and Strong also obvious. And just a guess but Carlson for his smarts on the rink and in the locker room. I still thing this team has a nice core group and has a chance to rally this season. But these 4 are missed heavily.

Looks like UML has another thing in common with the Cats, a loss to the Black Bears.
Nice comeback by the boyz tonight. Let's see if they can put together 2 in a row!
By the sound of the pregame interview, Sneddon let it all hang out this week in practice. Reminded me of his first couple years with the program. I remember the game he sat himself. He is all business.

Not really something in common...as Lowell loses a HOME game and UVM lost on the road. Now if Lowell loses to Amherst next Saturday night, then they will have something in common.

UVM never trailed in the game, so could not have been a comeback win. Probably better put, nice response to the drubbing put on them by UMass.

Can you hear the silence? I guess the Black Bears took the wind out of the sails of a few of the UML faithful.

I think it just left them a little stunned, there is no way you take all that hot air out of their sails.

The same thing you have done the last 13 years........
you can't see it but i'm furiously pressing the panic button like it's marked "doors close" and an amherst fan is approaching my elevator

No but watching you tear down other UML fans is kinda fun. Usually you guys just pat each on the back and agree. Hmm, back to back losses and you guys are getting a little testy. Don't worry, even I don't believe its the end of the world for UML. At least not yet.

you mean you aren't ready to fire everyone after two losses in november? what a strange concept

Maybe after the end of Dec if Blaise and the ChickenHawks go 0-4 with a 6 game losing streak, then you may want to bring out the chopping block.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Went to the game Friday night at NU.

I thought UVM was definitely the stronger team in the first two periods. They had some stellar opportunities they did not cash in.

The third was another story. Two consecutive penalties early in the 3rd gave NU a lot of momentum and put UVM on their heels. They survived it but probably would not have against a better team with more finishers.

They still are not playing up to expectations.

Anyone know what is up with Stacey not playing Friday????? I thought he had a rough game vs. UMASS but who didn't?

Injured or sat down?

Without him in the line-up they don't have enough depth.

Also surprised to see MacKenzie sit...

Other thoughts from Friday:

Roloff was the best forward on the ice offensively, but still not cashing in enough

Pacan is looking better

McCarthy had a nice game, but nothing to show for it

Madore looked better, but still not the Madore of last year

Borrows took to 2 penalties and Cullity took one.

UVM only drew one penalty - which might be just as well given how horrible their PP is. 2nd to LAST in D1.

UVM is 50th in scoring defense in D1

bottom line - D and tending still not great, offensively challenged with absence of V. Stalberg and Lenes. Need guys to collectively step it up

UVM needs a good showing versus Yale to get some momentum going into a huge two games next weekend

Good team analysis. I agree on all points.

Thanks for the recap of the game for those of us that did not attend.

I am curious though as to the offensively challenged statement, and other please chime in on this. The games that I have seen UVM has looked alright offensively, the problem it seems to me is that in the losses they don't have the puck. Is it a case of not enough offense or spending wayyyyy too much time playing defense, such that the offense just isn't given a chance to play offense.

According to Ted Ryan's write up in the Burlington Free Press Stacey missed the NU game due to injury and is listed as day to day.

Hopefully Wahs will be up for playing and can shake whatever the injury is. He is greatly needed by this team.

My opinion might not be worth much because the only UVM games I've seen have been the three against BC, but I actually think I agree with you.

Aside from the 7-1 game (which was really just bizarre) I thought UVM was good at potting the puck once they got there. Most of the time I think teams might be good with possession and just can't put the biscuit in the oven, but UVM seems like they're okay with possession but good at finishing.

I didn't think UVM struggled offensively at all. In fact, on the contrary, I thought they had a much more offensive-minded style of play than they have in years past.

But, like I said, take my opinion with a grain of salt, because I only saw three games. :o
