Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

until the idiots go away. Actually not, they clearly have nothing better going on.

loved the viagra post Texas Cat. that was a classic.

Yes, Madore is in a slump. Thankfully Spillane is good and is it next year we have Vazzano Jr coming in?

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

I will admit, I am commenting without any insight to whether or not it has been mentioned in this thread yet, because the posting has been OUTRAGEOUS! Get a LIFE!

So onto my topic- I read Hendrickson's weekly HE post, and he talked about the cameras! I was unaware that McCarthy had scored against BC in game one to take a 2-1, and the goal didn't count because of some b.s. I wonder what the game would've been had that actually occured! Wow!

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

You would think that a top flight HE powerhouse like BC would have a lackey who can turn on the camera. <LOL>

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

We saw how game 2 was different when Vermont played with a lead so who is to say game 1 would have been as bad if that goal was counted, we could hope it would have been closer.

The question is should HE or the NCAA add rules/penalties requiring schools to have the equipment working and run by someone with more than a 2nd grade education or wait until this happens in a quarterfinal game and ends someones season.

If anyone thinks that if BC had been the ones taking that shot that guy would not be able to pull it up in 10 seconds let alone 10 minutes they are fooling themselves.

That would be unfair as schools like BC would have to hire outside help instead of having a work study student do it.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

UVM lost 7-1 giving up only 19 shots so I don't think one more goal for would have necessarily made their goaltending any better.

having said that, I really hate to see McCarthy get shafted out a goal against the team that wanted him to play another year of USHL.....

you get some bounces, you lose some bounces, they tend to balance out in the end. Chalk this one up to bad karma but an opportune time to get screwed, and hope one goes your way in the future in a one goal game

This UMASS game on Tuesday is pretty big in terms of getting some momentum going in the final three HE games of the semester. And every two points is huge

UMASS has been more consistent than UVM to date

I expect Spillane will be in the net as he has earned it.

Just saw this post on the Merrimack/UML thread toward another schools poster from our buddy Patronick

What kind of sad, warped existence do you lead where you continually waste your time typing out these idiotic posts? Why do you keep coming back to a message board whose users genuinely wouldn't care if you lost both of your hands in a silo explosion and could never type again?

He summed up our feelings toward him and Goon so well.

Ohhhh boy, you got me!! What a burn!!

The best part is that you Vermont fans don't realize that you're the ones everyone finds obnoxious. What's it feel like to be that delusional?

And by everyone he means the other UML trolls and the BC mensa members who get lost on the wrong thread....the rest of normal society has no issue with UVM.

A big game indeed. I'm psyched, this will be my first chance to see the Cats in person, as I'm home for Thanksgiving. I'll be there with my wife and two girls.

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Spillane wasn't in net. The Cats have been pretty solid at home and hopefully that'll continue.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Starting on Tuesday, the Cats will play 5 games that I think will define their season. UMass-Amherst and Yale are ranked teams. Northeastern, Boston University and New Hampshire are outside of the current top 20 rankings but tough conference games non the less.

The fact that UMass went down to Yale and beat them in their building in overtime will make them tough as they come into the Gut. They appear to be clicking on all cylinders right now. This will be a fun game to watch as the Minutemen can score (3.65 goals per game) and have a power play that can score. This will be their 4th road game and right now they are 3-0 on the road (5-2 at home).

Then comes Northeastern. Preseason, I thought this would be a tough team. They seem to be having a similar season to UVM, having a .500 record at 5-5-1. Like UVM, they went out to Colorado and split with a Colorado College team that is now #7 in the country and leading the WCHA standings.

Then Yale comes to town. Have to believe revenge will be in their minds. This team has stumbled out of the gate, being a preseason top 10 ranked team but at 3-2-2 they may not be in the top 10 when they arrive in Burlington.

Game 4 of this stretch is back in Boston at Agganis rink. Last year, the core of this UVM team went down to Boston and won 2 away games which defined their season. BU is struggling at 3-7-1 but plays their remaining 5 games of 2009 in Boston (4 at home and 1 at Harvard). Tough game, again a win against a struggling team and maybe a bit of revenge plays into this game for the Frozen Four meltdown last spring.

The final game of this stretch is UNH, a 4-6-3 overall team sitting at the top of Hockey East standings with a 4-2-2 record. UNH will play at Merrimack (where UVM, BC, BU have lost) and at home vs. Lowell before they play UVM. So it is possible UNH will be 4-8-3 when these 2 teams play.

These Cats really need to have 4 wins or at a minimum, 3 wins, a loss and maybe a tie. They currently sit at an overall record of 4-4-1. If they do win 4 or 3 with a tie, they will have positioned themselves ranking wise for another NCAA bid. If they don't, then the 2nd half of the season will need to be pretty special to get back to the dance.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Lets give a big thumbs up to the UVM basketball teams who both beat Big Conference teams on the road today. THe men over Rutgers 77-71 and the Women over BC 84-65. True those teams are not top 20 but its still amazing.

I think BC used to be Big East, but aren't they in the ACC now? Not that it really matters because it's still quite an accomplishment! Congrats Cats!
