Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

I don't usually read other teams' threads except for Northeastern and Minnesota since I casually follow those teams. But whenever I see that the last post on this thread is from a UML fan, I have to click it, because I know hilarity is going down and jcarter and crew are looking like idiots again.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

what can i say, ever since the adoption of our very real concern for disrespect, we've made uscho a much, much more interesting place

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Hmmmm... if you're not a shrink you really ought to be. Considering you aren't right about a single thing here and that they are absolute phonies, it would be a logical fit for you and the profession.

Trust me, I wasn't happy with my team's results last year. Am I happy as a pig in mud with my team's decade (the "Team of the Decade")? Absolutely. Does it make it even more funny that my team has really earned their way through the NCAAs on every single one of the 8 FF trips in my Frozen Four while not being impressed with a trip to the FF through AFA and Yale? 100%.

Slice it any way you want. I'm very content and yet I do take pleasure in making you Vermont 'tards look stupid. Someone call Doctor Phil, there must be something wrong with not being impressed with wins over an ECAC team and a mid-major team like AFA. OH NOES!!!!!

I think it bothers you guys so much that the outside world (outside of Vermont) isn't that impressed with two wins against Yale and AFA. But then again, I'm not a shrink so what do I know? Hahahahahhahahaha (<------ contentness!!!!)

FWIW, I'm not sure which of you twits were arguing that Yale was a powerhouse, but let me give you these numbers about ECAC teams in the NCAAs and how badly that league prepares teams for the tourney.

- In the last ten years, the ECAC has only averaged 1.9 teams in the NCAA tourney per year. That's bad. It's basically bare minimum a power conference would expect.
- The winning percentage by ECAC teams in the NCAAS? 30%.
- NCAA participants... 19... Frozen Four entrants? 2. That's an 11% success rate at making the FF.
- Taking into account that 40 slots were available for the FF in the last 10 years and ECAC teams accounted for just 2, that's 5% of the field. Pathetic.

Compare these numbers with any of the CCHA, WCHA, or HE and you'd laugh your balls off (assuming a UVM hockey player was holding them) at the ECAC. So whatever seed Yale had secured, great. But I'm not impressed with anything from the ECAC... ever.

You all have a less than average day.

Stop proving me right I dont need your help!!!

Vermont fans have not been going around talking up our FF last year so for you and others to keep bringing it up it is clear that its more of a problem to you. This is a Vermont thread not a HE or game thread so if you want to keep coming here and bringing up the past it is clearly your problem that you are trying to get over.

And to keep bashing teams that made it while yours was sitting in the dorms at home playing Wii is just hilarious.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

On a UVM hockey related note,

Nice to see Spillane get defensive player of the week for the second straight week. And, to see him get some playing time. Madore is clearly the future of UVM but, as posted, seems to have hit a slump. Great to have two goaltenders that can step in and do the job when one is struggling.

But one thing is clear, whether UVM wins or loses seems to be resting squarely on the defenses shoulders. When they show up things go pretty well, when they take stupid penalties and play lazy things are not so good.

Definitely backwards from what a lot of us expected. So far scoring has been pretty good, and the offense seems to be doing their job. Need to shore things up in the UVM zone.

No? I guess a lot of folks are really misconstruing a lot of posts from UVMers, then. That must be it.

so if you want to keep coming here and bringing up the past it is clearly your problem that you are trying to get over.

Right, the past doesn't matter.

And to keep bashing teams that made it while yours was sitting in the dorms at home playing Wii is just hilarious.

Except now it does again. Oh darn.

You must have an IQ over 400 to be using logic this amazing. Clearly, no one else understands it because it is so above everyone else except you (and a few other genius fans that all happen to be fans of UVM). You guys should head back to the ECAC where you can argue with the fans of the Ivy League schools so they may be able to, in some sort of miraculous event, match your level of intelligence.

We've had some amazing stuff in the progression of the thread. UVM fans defending the trip to the FF. Then trying to validate the opponents with the fact that they have accomplished more on the ice than anyone on this board ever has. Then defending AFA as a good team because they will defend the country in the future and that means they are capable of winning the Stanley Cup. Then after that basically fails, saying that Yale was a good team supported with the fact that someone on the selection show said Yale could win that bracket. That's about as good support as I've ever heard here for someone's argument. Now the past doesn't matter. Except it does again because, well, even though our team didn't beat juggernauts, only people who root for BU, Bemidji, and Miami are allowed to say that (note the irony that those teams all were clearly validated en route to or during the FF). Otherwise, while it is clearly an intelligent thought, it makes that person bitter. OK. Someone's been to a few too many phish concerts!!!!!!

Basically all this crap indicates that UVM has become relevant. Nobody dished an ounce of trash at UVM while they were in the ECAC. To have people go out of their way to come into a team's in season thread to spread hate just means Vermont is now getting under people's skin.

I agree and will say that nobody dished trash our first couple of years in HE either. But make a trip to the FF and the haters come out from under their rocks. Sad.

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

it's definitely this one rather than UVM being relevant. that's just a laughable idea.
I don't know, I can take you and Patronick. Every now and again (not often, mind you) you guys will say something that makes me think there's a human being in there somewhere. ;)

Yuma Nick, however, is pure hate. It's surprising to me since he's a fan of a team that's had so much success and that I have so much respect for. Why should he feel threatened by UVM?

Re: 2009-2010 Official Vermont Season Thread

Playing tough competition is important

Unless it's for a trip to the FF? Then it doesn't matter!

and a split with #1 DU certainly looks better then had our AD Corran set us up with two against UAH or someother bottom of the barrel teams.

Irony is thy name, jcarter.

I wonder what the spin would be from you hippies if the NCAA just immediately sent UML to Detroit after last weekend.

True. UVM is as relevant as Minnesota Duluth. Although UMD did win some hardware (the Hobey and last year's WCHA tourney). So I guess UVM is not quite as relevant. And really, who the heck thinks UMD is relevant (apologies to fans of UMD).

Nick did you even attend college? Or are you one of those guys that just tags along with BC because the community college doesn't have a hockey team? I really can't figure out how some one could be so moronic not to understand the difference between being assigned a game against a team as opposed to scheduling a game against a team.... Just not the sharpest tool in the shed I guess, and I mean that in the nicest way.

The only other thing I can come up with is your parents were pothead hippies from UVM in the 60's and you hate your parents so you in your deluded little mind you take that hatred out on UVM. Of course when I read your posts about other teams this seems unlikely.

Oh wait, you are Jerry York's kin are you. That may explain it.....

It's funny you should ask. I actually went to Bemidji State for undergrad. Moved on to Miami of Ohio for my masters. Then I went for my PHD at BU.

On the weekends, I do college hockey analysis for ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU and have made appearances on the college hockey selection show among others. Sometimes I like to mess with people and say outlandish things like "Look out for Yale!" during the broadcast, even though I know they are not a great team. It's one of my quirks.

So... as you can see, I'm very much qualified to question the validity of the Vermont run ... well, considering the opponents it was more like a walk (cake or elephant, whichever type of walk you prefer) to DC last year. Since 3 of my teams DID make the Frozen Four I really have no reason to be bitter. I only root for BC because I'm a bandwagon fan and thought it would be a good idea to root for them after seeing them make 8 FF trips in like 12 years (and actually beat good teams doing it!) and win 2 national titles. Maybe when Vermont puts a run together like that BC run, I'll jump on their bandwagon (or in the case of when that might actually happen since I won't be around, my great-grandchildren when that generation comes to fruition in, say, the next half of the century?)

During the week, I am a highly qualified doctor in the neuroscience field doing research on how to measure people's IQs by their posts on the internet. It's a cutting edge field right now. Which is why you can trust me when I tell you that your IQ is somewhere between 300 and 400. I am an expert. Trust me. People like you need to submit yourselves to the proper experts so that your true mental powers can be utilized for all of mankind - not just UVM fans on USCHO. You're like a Good Will Hunting type character. Sometimes we call folks like you idiot savants. Others just call you idiots. There's no discernable difference. The only thing that matters is that people like you are misunderstood. And I empathize.

Either way, I'm glad we cleared all of this up. Let's call a truce.

hahahhahahah, Nick you actually put a smile on my face. Can you tell me about that fishing trip where you caught a huge whale with nothing more then a piece of rope and a rusty nail, and had to fight off a polar bear that wanted to eat your whale. That would be great.

You actually had me going for a minute, right up until I read "Then I went for my PHD" hilarious !!!
