2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

12 games in and I've already seen comments and posts on other boards calling for both Fletcher and Richards heads.
Does anyone understand what patience is anymore?

Of course not.

The team is where I kind of expected them to be. I told all of my friends too try and not care as much for a season or two, and just watch and be patient. They didn't listen and I can barely stand to hear them talk right now.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Do they want Doug and Jacques back?

I have to admit, I'm laughing at the short-sightedness of the Wild contingent. You are taking a 100% defensive-minded team, and switching to a full-offensive team? With mostly the same players? It's gonna take 3-4 years to redo.

And fans are screaming for a new coach? Are disappointed? Well, they are dumbarses.

This isn't a tweak-team. This is a rebuilding team. That takes time. Now the Wild fans will see what an "expansion" team is really like. Not trying to rip, but when they brought in Lemaire, his system was the easiest to accept/have instant success. Now that that is gone.......here come the growing pains.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Haven't gone that far yet but I have seen some questioning the "leadership" of both and of Koivu too because the team wasn't "fired up" after a closed door meeting.

These people should relax... and Read what I wrote in September preparing for this season. Anyone who looked at this roster and seriously thought they'd compete was f-cking crazy.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

A lot of people don't understand. I hear many say "These guys have been playing hockey for a long time and are professionals. As system change shouldn't make them so confused."

Idiots. These guys are at the NHL level mainly because of the system they played. Now that they don't play it, everyone can see how much they suck.

They aren't confused, they're just bad. :D

I think some people simply got caught up in the moment, considering the new coach, new GM, and signing players like Sykora and Havlat. I don't blame them. I even considered for a moment they might compete more often than not before I sat down and looked at it more closely.

My worry is that the Wild will never see the fruit of those signings because they'll be gone before a proper supporting cast is built. :(

I don't look around at other places to see what is being said about the Wild. If people are already calling for the Richards and Fletcher to be canned, that is just sad. I never expected this team to be decent this year, I don't see how anyone could have expected them to be good! I'm hoping to get some high draft picks out of these rebuilding years, and then hopefully compete for a playoff spot in year three of the new system, then make the playoffs year 4. By that time the new talent from the high draft picks should be ready to make an impact and they can start to be competitive again.

Said in jest--sort of--but the truth hurts here, eh? ;)

I've echoed the same the sentiment from the last few posts 100%. However, what I don't like to see is the fundamental mistakes and the lack of 60 full minutes of effort per game. That is what is controllable, IMHO, the latter in particular. How much of that is the system and how much of that is just plain not trying? I don't know; I can't know.

Is some of that on the coach? U-betcha. But not all, and I'm not calling for "heads to roll" over it. It just needs to be fixed. IIF the team goes two or three more months in the same cylce, then maybe, maybe, Richards needs to be looked at. I'm not saying give him the ax, but a little compromise to try and coach the players you have for the best result possible in the first year of this change might be in order. Again, my opinion.

Or, lose them all and get the pick #1 in the draft (assuming we can win the lottery) :D We will all be **** glad Fletcher is at the helm in that scenario. Could you imagine the disaster that would have ensued had Smug had that type of responsibility  ;) :)

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

The upside (downside?) tonight is that Marian Gaborik will not play for the Rangers.

Hooray?

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Avery and Higgins are also out, so the Rangers will be skating 2 4th lines and 2 3rd lines. No legitimate first liners in this lineup.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Upside. As long as the crowd chants "Where is Gabby?" for 10 straight minutes to start the game.

Minnesotans chanting? Whaa???

(I keed, I keed... the "Boo-gaard" chants after Kim Johnsson was suckerpunched during the playoffs against the Ducks a few years back sent chills down my spine. And I was watching online for chrissakes)

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

You just described the wild lineup every night!

BURN! :D

I'll be there tonight. I was looking forward to seeing Mary-ann skate, but am not surprised by the latest development.

I wonder if there will be a video screen appearance of Gabby in the press box? It will be interesting to see how the fans react. I'll probably stay neutral myself, but my wife will be more than happy to join in the anti-Gabby festivities ;) :)

Brett Favre would like to remind you that true Wild fans... true Wild fans understand.
