2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

It's on KSTP, which happens to be an ABC affiliate. The Hubbards own both KSTP & KSTC (chan. 45) & I suspect the powers to be at HBI decided to air the game on KSTP instead of channel 45. Makes sense as ABC Sports is a non-factor and they'd rather air the Wild game (whose rights they already had) instead of 4 hours of Sunday afternoon infomercials.
Even in MN, I imagine the Wild game will be struggling for viewers going against the Olympics and the 500. ABC will at least give it a little more visibility.

I knew the discussion here would be about Leddy getting dealt, but guys... Cam Barker is friggin' awesome. Chicago's cap problems are Minnesota's gain, and in this case, it's great.

I agree (albeit I'm not an admitted "Gopher fan"). I think the fact that jumps out the loudest is that he was tradded for a 3rd pick overall--that happens to have had some success in the NHL already. Every GM in the world would make this move--even if it involved their own son.

It's not about the trade anymore. I don't care about the trade. What I care about is an assistant GM who has been with this franchise since its inception screwing up yet another first round pick and then throwing someone under the bus to cover his own ***.

Awesome, the Wild-Canuck game is already starting to look like it might get chippy again, but that is pretty normal. :p

I don't think you can call it a bad draft pick if you turn an 18 year old D-man prospect into a 23 year old at the same position who has already gotten 40 points in a NHL season with a decent contract for the next few years. Leddy will be very lucky if he turns out as good as Barker already is.

If it was a blank slate 2010 mid-1st round pick, you'd be salivating at the deal.

Nice stat: half way through the 2nd and Vancouver has yet to get a SOG this period.

Wild looking good today

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

40 minutes of good effort so far today; night and day from Friday night.

But we all know it is a 60 minute game and the Wild has struggled there. Hopefully, they can keep it up in the 3rd and go into the break on a high note.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Wow, that was absolute thuggery and was a ridiculously dangerous move by 24 from vancouver. Clean hit by boogaard on the guy on the boards and this thug decides to goon it up.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but Boogaard could have been seriously hurt by that bush league move.

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Wild win! A solid 60 minutes. Backstrom looked a little shaky at times, but went long stretches without seeing ANY action, too. Cam Barker scores and Richards even puts Boogy out there for the first shift of the last PP :D

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Horse-collar Boogaard and then whine about getting hurt as a result. What a piece of work.

Well, time to consult the flow chart...

Re: 2009-2010: Official Minnesota Wild Thread

Sorry but reading the comments after the initial post I think price gouging is hyperbole at best Nathan. Look at what SpaethCo said:

I am paying $95 which is the current published STH price. See: http://www.xcelenergycenter.com/seating/hockey.jsp

My seat neighbor signed a 3-year contract back in the 06-07 season for guaranteed pricing at $85/seat through the 08-09 season, but the contract itself was purely optional only to lock in pricing. In my case, I wasn’t required to sign anything other than the credit card slip when I got my season ticket package.

I just talked to my seat neighbor about buying games since the invoices just came out, and he doesn’t believe anyone in club would still be under contract as they didn’t offer contracts in the 07-08 season when the team started off blazin’ and ended up winning the division, and they weren’t going to lock people in with the tanking economy for the 08-09 season.

Last Feb/March when the renewal notices came out for the 09-10 season, the Club seats stayed at $85/75 (sides/ends) under the price freeze and prices were raised over the summer for new season ticket holders / single game ticket buyers.

Looks like this year they also set the renewal pricing for Club to remain at $85/75, unless you just bought in over the 2009 summer — then you get suckered for 12-13% more than the folks sitting next to you.

This isnt some evil plot to gouge unsuspecting Club Level fans out of $10 a game. If SpeathCo is right it seems pretty straightforward to me.
