Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

And if he didnt hit people and knock them around he would be called a ***** like Cindy Crosby. Ovechkin talks the talk and walks the walk unlike most of the "Superstars" in the NHL who have AHL retreads do their dirty work for them.

Ovechkin wants to walk the walk, but it gets broken up every time. The linesman jumped right in and broke him and Dan freaking Boyle up in San Jose. I understand if he had been dumb enough to go after Murray, but Boyle?

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

I wouldn't say that Ovechkin is as "untouchable" as Crysob. They've given him a few token suspensions, warned him about the kneeing, etc. However, they also know that sitting a talent like him for more than a couple games at a time is bad marketing. His emotion and skill are great for the game, and as long as he doesn't 'Bertuzzi' someone out there, his relationship with the league office is pretty safe.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

I agree with just about everything the last few posters have said. I know its not Ovie's fault that Bradley came in but it also shows that he has someone to fight for him.

I love Ovechkin, dont get me wrong. I am jealous that Capitals fans have him on their team. But I think he does get away with a lot of stuff that for some players would be called a lot more often. He gets a lot more freedom to take shots at players that are borderline dangerous or penalties. If I'm not mistaken, I think Don Cherry called him out on this.

The post I wrote earlier about too many teams wearing black motivated me to make a purple and gold Kings' jersey. I really wish some teams would go back to their older styles.

are we talking black as a main feature or black altogether? I just wonder what that would be like if it were black trimmed a bit.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

Well I guess a black jersey. I would like it if color was brought back to the game. I think a big way to fix that is to have the home team where white and the away team to where darks.

As of right now, if the Bruins played any team on this list the color of the game could be black vs white. Every game kinda looks the same.

Here is a list of team with black jerseys that I can think of:
Anaheim
Carolina
Chicago
LA
Ottawa
Philly (they did last season anyways)
Phoenix
Pittsburgh
San Jose
TB

Black as a third is fine in my opinion. Also, if only a team or two had black as a primary color, it wouldn't be an issue. Dallas has done it for quite a while now.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

I think LA's black alternate is one of the best jerseys in the league right now. I like Chicago's black sweater this season far better than the black from 2008-09.

The black Blackhawks jersey is a good looking one to be sure, but I still hate that they have a third. Nothing can ever touch those reds.

Can't argue with that $tatement. Although I can $ay that the black $weaters will be worn eight more time$ thi$ year, and only two will be replacing the red$. The other $ix will be road game$.

Fear the Fin on San Jose in Detroit

"The demons weaving amongst the rafters above. The cold, unforgiving sheet of ice below. The Red Army lining up eye to eye, wooden bayonets poised at the ready. Many have fallen here, torn limb from limb under piercing lights, casually thrown aside like the masses before them. And if history repeats itself? If history has provided a compass to navigate this treacherous terrain tonight?

Then history has ****ed our very souls."

4-34 in the regular season.

I'm no psychologist, but I have a theory that a small pocket of Sharks fans actually enjoy the losses more than the wins on some primal level. If heartbreak is your escape than I'm sure you'll be tuning in tonight eagerly pinching your nipples and biting your lip in anticipation of what, if the past eighteen years are any indicator, should be a prime opportunity to find some sweet sweet solace.

*******s.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

So, getting body position to skate up ice is "holding", but jabbing your stick deliberately into someone's midsection is ok? Ridiculous.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

So, it didn't take long for Pierre Gauthier to unleash his reign of terror, trading a 2nd round draft pick for....Dominic Moore? Yep. That's a good deal.

Ugh. Just horrible. There is no defending that move...a 2nd round pick for a crappy player who's been on waivers within the last couple of years AND is a UFA at season's end.

My stomach hurts.

The Bruins are doing a magnificent impersonation of Rome circa the 5th century.

Re: 2009-2010 NHL Season Thread 2: Its all going up in flames!

Rules question: aren't you expected to have control of your stick at all times? Meaning, that if you are playing, and while you're still holding your stick, something happens that causes it to come up and whack someone in the face or neck, that's a minor penalty, correct?

Does this hold true if you are hooked, fall down and flail your arms and the blade of your stick nails the hooker in the throat?

It's an honest question. I'm not just looking for another reason to hate Steve Downie.

Last I checked, they were up 5-0. Though if anyone could nearly blow a five-goal lead, it's them.

Detroit & SJ headed for OT. Nabokov holding them in with 48 saves so far.
