Of course, '93 would have been different had it not been for Kerry Fraser. :D
Somewhere Danny Gallivan is smiling.

93 was different because kevin stevens broke his face and the isle shocked the best pens team that blew the third cup in their string of many.

truly, like tonight, sometimes the best team doesn't win (copyright, b.morrison :p )

No jerkiness detected. It's all good tonight. Not likely to happen Matt, but can you imagine a Canadiens-Bruins ECF? Sacre bleu!

Im having palpitations just thinking about it. Seriously, I barely survived the double OT in game 4 against. I wouldn't even survive the pregame for Game 1 is they met in the ECF.

Could Halak be this years JS Giguere?

Goalie playing great behind a team that is executing the hell out of the trap? Maybe. Gary's baby boy will have something to say about that though.

The Puck Daddy obit is going to epic for this one... Wow...

The guys from The Pensblog are doing it. You better believe it's going to be a hilarious read.

Side note: The abuse of the word "epic" has spread to here now. Great.

More with regard to next round's schedule, this time a night by night view
http://puckthemedia.wordpress.com/2...conference-semifinal-superschedule/#more-4770

I'd like to meet the genius behind the May 4th and May 6th scheduling.

Unavoidable with all the games being out East. This is one instance where a partner network would come in handy. It also gives the NHL the ability to overcharge for single round/single games of NHL Gamecenter and whatnot.

I know overlap is unavoidable. So much overlap though? For instance, wouldn't a 7:00; 8:30 stagger work just as well?

The Caps are now 2-7 in series-deciding games (2-6 in Game 7, 0-1 in Game 5 back when the first round was best of 5)

They have never won a Game 7 after the first round of the playoffs.

Ouch. Talk about a tortured fanbase. But this one has to sting as badly (and maybe worse) than any of them.

EDIT: It's actually 2-8 in series-deciding games...I didn't add the Best-of-5 to the tally.
I was sitting in the upper deck and it looked like the Caps had no passion, no fire in the belly at all. Montreal kept the Caps to the outside, let them shoot all night from there and covered anyone in the middle. Plus they blocked shots silly. I honestly thought I was watching a replay of Denver - Maine.

But I was not disappointed. I root for Clarkson and the Red Sox. Until recently, my plate was full of failure, so what's another piece on the plate??

Can anyone who watched on TV give their impression of the Ovechkin no goal??

Kind of sketchy. Halak's right leg was interfered with, but barely. It definately didn't look to me like Hal Gill pushed the Cap into Halak, so as far as I'm concerned, the debate comes down to whether Halak was interfered with.

The ref was absolutely certain that he was, so I'm not sure what you could do about it.

Ultimately, I have no problem with the call, but it's a little close for comfort.

From the TV perspective I thought the Caps played really well and had plenty of fire. Just couldn't get it past a hot goaltender.

I won't comment much on the no goal. As a Caps fan, I can't see it objectively. We'll just say that I think it was borderline at best. It is not consistently called that way, IMO.

In a sport where each point is so important...these calls are ridiculous to be so inconsistently called.

As a Caps fan since the mid-80s, this is the worst of all of them for me. This one really hurts. I have to give Halak a ton of credit for stealing the last two games, though.

The good news is that this team is still very young. I wouldn't write them off, even if the team stays largely as is for next year. There will be some changes, but the core of this team should not be changed. At least not yet.

Alluding to a previous post in this thread, they'd be idiots to get rid of Semin short of an unbelievable player.
