Re: 2009-2010 NHL Playoffs Thread Part II: Dan Boyle's fate rests in the balance...

The Caps are now 2-7 in series-deciding games (2-6 in Game 7, 0-1 in Game 5 back when the first round was best of 5)

They have never won a Game 7 after the first round of the playoffs.

Ouch. Talk about a tortured fanbase. But this one has to sting as badly (and maybe worse) than any of them.

EDIT: It's actually 2-8 in series-deciding games...I didn't add the Best-of-5 to the tally.

They'll get numb soon enough. Then you start laughing when absurd things happen.

do you really expect an entire group of wagon-riders to riot?

Though, I was tempted to grab my Bruins jersey go down to the metro station and stand with a smug smile

I expect them to file a motion to amend the final score.

The Washington Sharks - has a nice ring to it.

As a lifelong Leafs fan, I can't believe I'm saying this -- but way to go Habs!! :D

Classy.

I know the Habs are oft despised (and rightfully so - success + arrogant fans = contempt), but that was a very remarkable performance.

Can't believe the Bruins are really in the same position they were last year--home ice in the conference semifinals--after such a disappointing regular season. I think they can beat the Flyers...

Halak saves 131 of 134 in the final 3 games?

well, i have confidence that if the boys did have to play the caps... the caps would find some way to lose.

but i'm glad we miss them now! ;)

Now, instead of giving up 3+ goals and getting the win anyway, the Flower actually has to get his head out of his arse. :p

Somewhere Bob Gainey is smiling.

Listening to Team 990 is fun right now.

How so?

If Gainey was still in charge, the habs would've been out in 4 games.

Gainey would never have played Halak. He'd've pressured Martin to put in his golden boy: Carey "Too steep a" Price.

FYP. Honestly, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but most of the Canadiens' success occurred before 1980. Yes, they've won twice since then, but it's not like we're talking about the teams of the 60's and 70's here.

Congrats to the Habs fans; condolences to the Caps fans.

I honestly thought the Habs would fold after laying a darned egg in Game 2.

But... Halak is good. That's all I'm sayin'.

Sure, Price was Gainey's boy...but this is a Gainey built team. Gainey brought in experience and heart, and it showed tonight.

Of course, '93 would have been different had it not been for Kerry Fraser. :D
Somewhere Danny Gallivan is smiling.

Could Halak be this years JS Giguere?

No jerkiness detected. It's all good tonight. Not likely to happen Matt, but can you imagine a Canadiens-Bruins ECF? Sacre bleu!
