Re: 2009-2010 NHL Playoffs Thread Part II: Dan Boyle's fate rests in the balance...
I heard a stat this morning and I wish I could remember the details where that's the first road game 7 win for Detroit in like forever.
I heard the same piece of data as well. The point also was made that Detroit has been
hosting, rather than playing on the
road, in seventh games for quite some time. For much of the 1990s to the present, Detroit was in/has been in the position of hosting seventh games. Its regular season success is a large factor in why Detroit hasn't had to win a seventh game on the road in quite some time.
I am a lifetime Montreal fan with no bias for or against Detroit, but I must say, this Detroit team has so many players with vast Stanley Cup playoff experience that I think it can overcome the perceived or real difficulty of playing a seventh game on the road.
I live in Denver and watch many of the Avalanche games on TV. The Avs won game one on the road versus San Jose. In game two the Avs surrendered a goal in the final minute of the first period, the final minute of the second period and the final minute of the third period to allow the Sharks to force the game into overtime. The Sharks eventually won the game. Colorado coach--Joe Sacco--made some tactical errors regadring defensive pairings he used late in each period. Having said that, the Avs came t-h-i-s close to taking a 2-0 lead in their series against San Jose.
The Avs found a way to win a game in San Jose. My own opinion is that Detroit is a better team than Colorado and can find a way to win a game in the Shark Tank.
And good luck to Les Habs tonight against what I think will be an angry, determined bunch of Capitals.
