Home ice advantage? In beating Phoenix, Detroit won three of the four games hosted by the Coyotes. The combined score in those three Detroit victories was 17-6. Detroit was right at home playing in Arizona.

I heard a stat this morning and I wish I could remember the details where that's the first road game 7 win for Detroit in like forever.

Detroit started the postseason without home-ice advantage for the first time since 1991, when it lost Game 7 at St. Louis in the first round. The Red Wings haven’t won a Game 7 on the road since a 1964 victory at Chicago in the opening round.

The question before us is simple: how do you beat Detroit? The answer seems obvious at first: import more efficient and reliable cars from overseas and allow the manufacturing downturn to slowly destroy the city economically.

Can't wait for us to hit the golf courses in a few weeks. :o

No word as of yet on the Caps' starting goalie, though one would think Theodore would be a major gamble.

Jacques Martin is 0-4 lifetime in game 7's.

Is San Jose- Detroit a go for tomorrow night? Haven't seen any confirmation of that yet.

Tough night for the Yotes, and very unfortunate that Shane Doan ended up missing most of the series. But, their season is one of the great sports stories of the year. Hopefully they will be given the opportunity to build on this success next year.

*edit* Maybe it's just wishful thinking on the Sharks part, as there is a story later that says:
The Sharks could play as early as Thursday, but the team will deal with whatever starting point they are given.

“Whenever they tell us, we’ll be ready,” said McLellan. “I sense the guys being anxious a little bit. To keep that energy going, it would be nice to play on Thursday. We’ll react to whatever they throw at us.”

Okay, thanks. I checked blackhawks.nhl.com and nhl.com , I figured if SJ-Det was Thursday, it would stand to reason that Blackhawks-Canucks would be Friday. Should have checked the Sharks site as well I guess. Thanks again.

Jaroslav Spacek, who was not expected to play tonight, is on the ice at the Verizon Centre with the rest of the Canadiens.

Dan O'Halloran and Brad Watson are your referees this evening. Thankfully no Auger.

I'd assume so. If the SJ game is to be tomorrow , that's a little short notice though eh?

Yes, but I think the people that needed to know knew. Elsewise, there would have been no reason that the Wings would have flown directly to California from Phoenix.
