#2 UNH v. #3 Merrimack, Hockey East Semi-Final @ the TD Garden

Pepband is actually rather new at MC. We've had that song as our goal song for a while and the students seem to love it.
Yes but you are missing the point, all the schools have there songs, however they never get piped into the garden.I smell inside connection. I'm willing to bet you will not here it tonight.York will have his say.not implying Mack will not score

And I reiterate: if they're not going to play, don't bring them. The UNH students love "Rock n' Roll Part 2", but it's not blared over the PA when UNH scores at the Garden.

you sir are going to be chowing down on hats tonight, would you like any condiments?

The garden does have amazing honey mustard, may I suggest that?

lol I find it funny how this goal song business has everyone hot and bothered...who cares seriously. If it bothers the opposing team...all the more for the goalie to get amped and not allow it to be played.

It is supposed to be a neutral venue, if you are playing goal music then it is no longer neutral, especially if it is for only one team. On top of that, MC is the only team since I've been watching that has had PA goal music at the Garden - U-Mass didn't bring a band in '04 and it was crowd noise only.

This has happened at regionals on occasion too and is usually met with the same complaints ("10,000 Men of Harvard" over the PA @ Amherst in '05 for example).

On the topic of music, anyone else hear Black Betty last night? Thought it was "banned" Joey B.?

So there should be no UNH music and fish throwing next week in Manchester?

From what I remember, they don't play UNH music on the PA at the regionals, the only UNH music is by the pep band. The fish thing is up to the fans, if a fan brings in the fish and throws it, so be it. They could do it at your arena if no one stopped them from bringing in the fish.

There was UNH music in Manchester in 2009.

When UNH and its fan base consider themselves "classy," there will be no fish throwing. In my eyes, the fish throwing event is for fans who know nothing about hockey and sportsmanship. It symbolizes, "Fish the puck out of the net." It is taunting and demeaning to the opposition. The UNH hockey program, as a national power, does not need and should not insult the opposition by this low class demonstration. Throwing the fish should not be an issue; winning the game should.

And you're the commissioner of class, bill. You truly are.

I remember that too. they played their usual music over the PA as they took the ice.

And I think what it does Is give the team and added mental advantage , slight. I'm sure its not done at other tournaments. Does anyone no if it was played over the pa tonight

Did Janney have a cold? He sounded stuffy and it seemed like being under the weather muted him a bit with fewer ridiculous/more insightful comments.

A you sure it is Janey? Sounds like William Shatner with the... out of place dramatic... pauses.

Re: #2 UNH v. #3 Merrimack, Hockey East Semi-Final @ the TD Garden

Here's the info I have on the canned music: from what I understand, that wasn't MC's band. They hired or otherwise borrowed a band from some other school. Because of that, they requested that song be played over the PA for goals. That request should have been denied, but wasn't. UNH people complained about it, but the people running the game didn't seem to care. The compromise offered (eventually) was to play our goal song over the PA, too. I gave the okay for that to happen (instead of the band), but it wasn't an issue again... if you know what I mean. (Sigh.)

Based on headset conversations, it seemed to be Garden staff running everything, so they didn't really care about the HEA rules and aren't used to dealing with bands.

So, that's what happened.

No one cares what you think about the fish. I vote we have mock turtleneck night at the Whitt next season. :p
