#2 UNH v. #3 Merrimack, Hockey East Semi-Final @ the TD Garden

Re: #2 UNH v. #3 Merrimack, Hockey East Semi-Final @ the TD Garden

Wow...just read this on the Merrimack Athletics website...WOW...didn't think they'd get this much support so quickly...Loge 10 and 11, Premium 137 are ALL SOLD OUT at MC!!! This is crazy...going to be loud on Friday...lots of Warrior Faithful making their way in!!!

From Merrimackathletics.com:

MERRIMACK FANS: A special pre-game Merrimack College gathering will take place at 5:00pm at Legends (inside TD Garden) on Friday evening to celebrate the Warriors 2011 season and prepare for the Hockey East semifinal! Place your order by March 16 with the Merrimack College box office and pick your tickets up at the TD Garden Will Call.

With Section 10 & 11 sold out, please ask for sections 6, 7 or 8 if you would like to sit in loge seating with other Merrimack fans. This can be done by contacting ticketmaster (800-745-3000).

I called Ticketmaster this afternoon, and after waiting on hold for like 15 minutes they told me 10 and 11 were sold out, I thought it might just be that those tickets were in the hands of the athletics department, but I guess it's good to hear that they were actually sold out.

Ticketmaster SUCKS by the way.. $10 in fees per ticket, the only "add on" was emailing (which we of course know is cheaper for them to do than to mail it!)

I will not be smuggling in the cowbell. I will be carrying it out in the open. We've played it the past few times UNH has been there. I'll have it at the regionals, too, and play it during stoppages, unless UNH doesn't make it.

Where are you guys sitting?

Oh... and why the emphasis on stoppages?

That's why I ordered through MC box office...Balcony seats which were 30+ after fees through ticket master were 25 flat through MC

Ticketmaster's practices are reprehensible. Worse is the fact that it seems like they're trying to be upfront (when you select a ticket, it tells you face + some fees), but it seems like there's more added on after that (I could be wrong about that - maybe it's just that the fees themselves are ridiculous). What really ticks me off is the charge for e-mailing. The customer does all the work, and pays the company for doing nothing? That's like paying a restaurant because you cooked a store-bought steak at home.

Because every time we've tried to bring a cowbell to regionals (in Manch), they've told us we couldn't play it. At Cornell, they said the same thing, so we finally asked if that meant just during play. They said yes. So, every time we scored (and it was a bunch), we played it during the stoppage, then just clapped when play started. Gonna do the same at the regional should UNH make it.

That makes sense . . . it's just too bad you can't play Go-Fight-Win, if nothing else.

As for ticket master . . . it's gotten to the point where it costs the same for me, when buying a large number of tickets, to jump in my truck and drive to Manchester or Boston, and get the tickets directly from the box office (or call). Saves the fees -- and I get to pick my seats, rather than ticketbastard deciding where I sit.

I am going to buy my tickets at the box office as well. The total cost for 3 - $30 tickets from ticketmaster was $149. I refuse to pay an extra $60. Ticketmaster is now a scalping organization.

It will be played, in some fashion.

Gotta love the "convenience" fee.

That sounds great! (I'll be wearing a pretty generic 'Cats jersey in white, and dark blue cap.)

This is all at beer works? It would be fun to meet some other posters. There's five of us coming down.

...
And let's not forget the mandatory "tip".
Good analogy, CBG! I avoid TM AT ALL COSTS -- meaning, I would rather drive to a box office and buy tickets directly than order through TM --have driven to Worcester and the Verizon to do just that. Silly, sure -- but I had a smug smile on my face every mile of the way. (And the last time I did order tix through TM, it took months to "unsubscribe" from their annoying emails.)

This is a "heard through a friend of a friend" type of deal...but I heard that MC has sold out their allotted student seats and is looking to get more from TD

merrimackathletics.com (http://www.merrimackathletics.com/sports/mice/2010-11/releases/Ticket_Info) is saying that the original allotment (loge 10, loge 11) are all sold out and when I went to the college to pick up my tickets, Premium 137 were already gone (and this was at noon on Monday!!!) The site also notes that people should order loge 6, 7, 8 from ticketmaster or td bank...but a buddy of mine who works with me has been in contact with the college who told him to go today as they will be getting ANOTHER allotment of tickets from the garden in those sections, but only time will tell on that one.

From my "heard through a friend" type of deal, Merrimack has sold over 1000 tickets at the college alone...this does NOT account for the people who bought direct through ticketmaster....so, sounds like it's going to be a good showing for the Warrior faithful...on a downside, the pre-game festivities at Legends can only accomodate 500 people so sounds like more than just a few people will be shut out of this little party. But having a crowd there is what is important. GO MACK!!!

So enough talk about ticket locations and pre-game libations. What are people thinking about the actual game? It's the SMT's against Hockey East's Sons of Anarchy. Let's hear your breakdowns, and predictions.

Goaltending is pretty even (don't feel that Digi has gotten the credit he should get) . MC's defense is big and physical with a bit of offense (Stollery) mixed in, while Kessel, Kostolansky and Campanale (+19)have shined for the 'Cats. Thompson and his linemates have been outstanding, yet I think MC has a bit more depth and scoring balance (especially with the way the Sheen-Madsen-Flanigan line has been playing).

MC 4-3. Da Costa, Barton and Cucci were a bit quite in the ME series. I think they kick it up a notch on Friday.
