Great way to put it! No GOPer would have any power whatsoever if he became Speaker even for a year.

And jericho...I can only imagine the looks on the faces of the MAGAts if the Dems nominated Hillary if they get the House back. (they wouldn't)

I legitimately think it would be a massive mistake to nominate anyone other than Jeffries. It takes the spotlight off the disaster the gop have created.
 
McCarthy trying to get his job back with Jordan as "an assistant Speaker"

No word on if this is an "Assistant to the Speaker" position.

Oh they won't. He has been groomed for this and his showing since the GOP took over has all but locked him into the roll for however long he wants it.

That said I think the crackpot from LA is going to get it. They seemed pretty confident at the PC.

Oh and they told a reporter to shut up for dare asking about his support of overturning the election.

Dump can absolutely win. A huge part of this country is trash, and he is their perfect exemplar. The Founders were right.

Johnson moved up to the House from state-level politics in 2017. He is best known as a driving force among more than 100 Republicans who signed on to a legal brief supporting a lawsuit seeking to overturn the 2020 election results in four swing states won by Biden.

Gaetz may have triggered all of this, but he's not the only one to blame. R's have been campaigning on not compromising for +30 years. Add that Ds are the enemy and are the antichrist (literally)- they put anyone who didn't agree with them in the worst possible light. And that clearly spread to their own party in recent election cycles. Given that they have zero real policy other than tax cuts, the progression of the fear thing has really damaged their party- since that's all they have to run on.

It's amusing to hear the "moderate" r's blame MAGA, given they really started all of this decades ago. This is really the natural end point to that.

As a side note, remember back in the good old days, when D's were negotiating the ACA, and r's were pointing out how bad the bill was because there were people in the D party were dissenting on various versions? They railed on D's because they didn't run in lock step. So how are D's supposed to look at R's right now? This is considerably more serious than a bill.

While D's can laugh, the reality is that R's are just exposing themselves for what they really are- not interested in governing, no real policy, and want everyone to be exactly the same as each other. MAGA, indeed.

Compared to FReep, which has been a full-on Trump Country grift since the mid-2016 purge of most of the Trump skeptics, r/conservative has more diversity of conservative thought and opinion. The average poster there seems to have a few more IQ points and drink less orangeade. Seeing a lot more folks coming to grips with reality on that board, even though many of them are still terrible people who support a bigoted ideology.

If Biden was just not unsuccessful he would beat Trump in a landslide but his presidency has brought runaway inflation and chaos overseas. I’ll hold my nose and vote for Biden but am not going to be happy about it. Our country deserves much better.
