118th Congress - Neutered Dog Attempts to Legislate

I don't know why but I find this incredibly interesting.

My prediction: McCarthy will end up winning in the end, because Matt Gaetz is a loser and not even half as competent as McCarthy, such as he is. And in 45 days we'll get another shutdown-avoiding CR, and Gaetz will do the same thing and lose again (this time by a bigger margin), and we'll go into a Presidential Election year with the GQP looking like what really are: incompetent boobs who can't even manage their own caucus.

If I read the rule right, Gaetz does not have to wait 45 days. He can do this every day until they change the Rules Package. Every. Single. Day.

Aside from being craven and corrupt and an imbecile, like the rest of the GOP caucus and their voters, Kevin is also just really bad at his job.

Allegedly he is an exceptionally good fundraiser, so another added benefit to his removal would be that loss. I mean, that money is going to go somewhere, but the combination of absurd disarray and the loss of a chief fundraiser as we head into an election year...

Are the few reasonable-ish republicans left going to go into 2024 with Matt Gaetz as a congressional leader? For real?

but this... "F McCarthy" move is much more aggressive than I thought they were capable of.

This move is a signal to the next guy: "we can help you against your Nazis, but do not f-ck with us."

It's a very shrewd move. I love the new Dems.

Wow, this looks bad for Gaetz. He's gonna get enough (10 flips) to get the motion to the floor, but then if he has just 10 on the actual vote, they will vacate Kevin but my god talk about no mandate. And he'll have sunk the Speaker by allying with the Great Satan. That's gonna look fine in a 2024 ad.

I don't get the "the replacement might be worse" bs people are rubbing with. McCarthy is not some McCain in his prime clone...he is a full on GOP lifer who votes with Trump like 97% of the time and begged for his help to be Speaker. Tom Emmer is not going to be that big of a change. MTG or Gym Jordan won't be able to whip votes any better than Qevin. The party is dysfunctional no matter who is in charge.

I'm enjoying watching the GOP perform Seppuku live on CSPAN, but I'm also sick and tired of living through "once in a lifetime historical events" every six months.

On the topic of "why are the Democrats assisting in the removal of McCarthy", apparently a number of the CA reps asked that votes that were to be held on Thursday be postponed a day or two, so they can attend the funeral of the late Diane Feinstein. McCarthy has not replied, and as of now, Thursday's votes remain scheduled.

So yeah, f him. Let him fight his own battles since he's so actively slapped away any good will from 49% of the House.

"Are the Republicans still talking?"

*Looks over and sees a short white dude with glasses and a bowtie...*

"So that's a yes."
