If I had a nickel for every time I agreed with Mitch McConnell, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice. Right?

Just to be clear, he's going to position this as the fault of Biden and the Democrats. He most definitely knows there will be a shutdown and is setting it up to blame anyone other than the actual cause.
 
I think Mitch does want to throw some subtle shade at the House GQP's like Ms. Space Lasers. He learned to play the game 40+ years ago. The "new kids" come in and $h!t on everything he has done over time.
 
The shutdown is definitely coming. I'm currently staffed on a DoD project and we've been preparing all week for how we continue while some of their team's full-time civvies are furloughed. Obviously we will still have our military SMEs on a PRN basis, since they have to keep working unpaid. Quite a few civilian SMEs are EPASS, so work in that area can continue.

Absolutely. Mitch has subtly destroyed democracy since the ‘80s, and helped lay the groundwork for the Trumps and Boeberts of the party to rise to prominence. The problem with the Trumps and the Boeberts is they’re loud, boisterous, and energize the opposing voter base, which Mitch rightfully hates. If Trump was half as smart at playing the game as McConnell, he likely would have won a second term, and be well on his way to forever destroying democracy. Luckily for Trump, the media and the average stupid American voter may give him an opportunity next year because Biden is old and stuff.
 
Senators Durbin and Murray - the #2 and #3 in the party leadership - have called for Menendez to resign. Further, Durbin suggested an ethics committee investigation if he does not. I mean sure, that sounds like "if you don't we'll write a sternly worded letter!" but it's the first step in any process to expel him, should they want to do so.

Mitch hates Qevin and the House GOP so while he will lay some blame at the feet of Biden he will make sure the House GOP gets some too.

Oh, sure. He'll be cautious with words to avoid direct blame... now. And then once it starts it'll be double barreled "the Biden Shutdown" or whatever idiot hashtag they've worked up.

I think there are a couple of other funny aspects to that search.

First, I think it's funny that you'd take a bribe but have literally no idea how much you're being bribed. Second, it sort of cuts into a defense he might claim like he was investing in gold as a hedge against inflation or something. Pretty obvious he didn't buy those pieces of gold. Did he find them somewhere??
 
I guess even God doesn’t want old people in Congress. Dianne Feinstein dead at 90. That takes care of that problem for the Dems.
 
This also means no more judge confirmations right? Are republikkans going to allow her to be replaced on judicial committee?
