118th Congress II - Neutered Dog Thrown In Gravel Pit

It's men, and it's men of all ages.

If only 61% of the broads feel that way, why is kepler picking on the dudes??

It's not really that surprising that Gen Z men would regress a bit. The dominance of video game culture gave them unrealistic expectations of femininity and a community of like-minded gamer bros. The Internet, smartphones, and social media made it too easy for teenage boys since 2010 to live in a constant bubble, confirm daddy's biases, and never actually talk to women as people and/or friends - just prizes to be won/obtained, and to which they feel entitled.

And oooooh, how angry they get when the woman has different ideas.

Nevada is putting Abortion on the ballot...Rosen should be safe. (Biden will likely win Nevada too) Rosen is centrist enough to satisfy Indys as well.

Tester is very popular and is running against a dude from Minnesota. Montanans don't seem keen on interlopers. Plus Trump endorsed Sheehy so there is that albatross.

Can't speak for Brown I know nothing about that race.

Kep, the math being used isn't putting all the factors in. There is more to the calculus than just "X" and "Y".

(Moved from Ukraine thread.)

Mais par course.

Is NV safe with abortion on the ballot? I'll bet a lot of those CWU members who tend Democratic are also Catholic.

Yeah, I feel like as much as video games are now mainstream and a mature industry that brings in more money than movies or music, self- identified "gamers" are God awful. They've always been there, but their percentage among the younger set feels larger.

I think that the numbers that fit the negative stereotype presented have remained steady over the years since the 90s. But now with technology, they have the ability to connect with each other and form their communities online (just like MAGAs).

Back in the 90s they would remain mostly isolated, maybe forming small groups of just a couple of people in a given town/community that were mostly social outcasts.

I don't think I buy it, although of course you folks are MUCH closer in age.

It sounds like the same thing that has been said of boys who played chess, or Strat-O-Matic, or D&D. And probably was said of boys who did ham radio, or Avalon Hill games, or model trains.

Something else has been added. All those communities likely had a measure of adolescent male misogyny as well as the frustration of having adult sex drives burgeoning alongside a child brain and zero opportunities with girls. But I'm pretty sure they didn't produce school shooters or have a massive neo-Nazi movement. This is new, and I think the activities are accidental, not causal.

Difference is the things you mention are for needs and geeks. We're not taking about the kids playing the latest Civilization game or Final Fantasy game, but the average Call of Duty or FIFA or Fortnight player, where if you turn on the in game speech 10 year-olds are saying things that would make sailors blush.

I honestly don't buy the numbers anyway. I think there is a disconnect between what is being asked and how it is being interpreted.

For once mookie nailed it. There is no way 43% of Gen Z females are misogynistic and anti feminist ideals. I taught/teach Gen Z it's ludicrous. Its like people who say "I am not a Trumper" but agree with everything he says and vote for him and the people he supports. They just don't like the label.

And blaming video game culture is lazy Boomer bullchit. It wasn't true of music in the 80s, vidro games in the 90s, tv shows my entire life or violent films. Again as someone who teaches these kids they act no different about this stuff than we did...they just have a louder platform for it. You guys have just forgotten how obnoxious and dbaggy we all were.

You guys sound like all our parents yelling at clouds when we were kids.

Woah there, I'm still obnoxious and dbaggy.

But I do see kids *shakes my fist at clouds*, my nephew and his friends mostly, fall into a much more chauvinistic culture. Again, is likely just them, but I think they are pretty typical 20 something kids that play COD almost every day after work then go out on the weekends.

I didn't say they arent...just that they are no different than us in our teens and twenties.

Nor should you. It's extremely silly.

Ding ding ding
If you asked these people to define what "feminism" is you would get wildly different answers, of course on an individual level but also across age groups.

As a lifelong gamer, I can confidently say that the younger generation would not be able to handle the lobbies of Modern Warfare 2 from 15 years ago. A minuscule amount of racist, sexist, vile things said in those lobbies would be enough for a permanent ban on gaming platform these days. It’s not, and has never been, video games.

The numbers are BS, there’s a metric ton of interaction through whatever social media app they choose. Like others have said, there’s likely a wild disconnect.

so the 40% who aren’t feminists thought they were being asked whether or not they like cok…..and only 60% think of themselves as rug munchers:p

I'm not blaming video game culture, Lord knows I played my share of Quake, Team Fortess, and the like back in the day. I'm saying that self-described "gamers" are a particularly misogynistic sub-culture, and I think that particular group is growing.

Maybe it's just they're more visible these days thanks to Twitch and the like. Certainly possible.

I have nothing to base this on, but I'm not so sure the community is growing so much as now they broadcast everything they do on SM sometimes to a very large audience. I mean there are YT channels getting hundreds of thousands of views of a host WATCHING someone else play a video game and adding commentary.

When I used to clan in Counter-Strike the commentary was extremely blue, but there was hardly a female to be found. My sons say now there are plenty of female gamers.

There are girls on TikTok in which half of their videos are of them putting on makeup while "dishing out some t". Thousands of daily views.

You werent but it sounded like Fade was...

And I think your second point is right...I don't think it is growing so much as it is just platformed much bigger now. I mean back in the day we always knew that other countries had huge populations of gamers that we had little access too. Now you can find it everywhere.

There is a definite subculture of misogynistic gamers (Gamergate happened for a reason) but I don't think it is growing all that much from its hey day. People like that always existed they just weren't seen and heard. Now they can go on 8chan and spout their crap while talking in a chat watching some Andrew Tate wannabe play Fortnite while scamming them for money.
