I don't pretend to know what the NCAA is going to do. I just state the obvious fact that the NCAA has weighted Lake Forest and River Falls ahead of Gustavus despite their comparisons.

If both River Falls and Gustavus attain their conference tourney championship game and lose, I don't see why that would change.

I think that would guarantee a 5-2 split. Amherst and Plattsburgh would be your 2 Pool C teams. I think Plattsburgh would still be the #1 overall seed in the tournament and would probably get the bye regardless of whether the tourney was in the east or west.

The twist to this possibility: what if Adrian won the NCHA and GAC won the MIAC? They could give the tourney to GAC (and give them the bye) and send Adrian to play Elmira in the QF. One thing's for sure: we're going to find out how handcuffed the committee is as far as money goes....

Say What??? As promised, here are the Secondary criteria comparisons. I did not add a second ECAC-East team because none would be in the mix based on Primary criteria. In other words, too many teams ahead of them in the east in my opinion to be under consideration for an at-large bid. These are the raw numbers. The NC$$ will weight them as they see fit but these are the numbers they will start with (in two Parts because of length).

I understand that you can figure out all the numbers and statistics and that's totally cool, but you need to realize that you aren't the one picking which teams go to the tourney. Clearly the ncaa is seeing something that you aren't. For once I actually agree with gojack. Yeah the numbers you have are all correct but the ncaa STILL has GAC behind LFC and RF. Which means that as of now those two teams would get that last pool c slot ahead of GAC and most likely Trinity. Again I think it's great you can figure out all the standings based on the categories YOU think they are judging on but clearly you're wrong in some way shape or form :eek:

don't bother posting anything to do with numbers in your response because quite frankly I don't give a **** about what you have to say because you refuse to accept the fact that you might be wrong.

A big part of the reason you can't guess what the NCAA is thinking is that while a comparison might be 4-1 based on the raw numbers, they can look at the margin in a specific comparison and say, "Well, team A wins four comparisons by miniscule margins, so we're going to throw them out as ties. Team B beat Team A head-to-head on the road....we'll take team B."

That might be an extreme example, but it's how the process works.

Look, the NC$$ has enumerated two sets of criteria in their Championship Handbook. All I am doing is providing the results of those criteria. The handbook states that “All the criteria listed will be evaluated (not listed in priority order)” and further that “Additionally, input is provided by regional advisory committees for consideration by the women’s ice hockey committee”. By the way, how come you don’t bi*ch and moan about the USCHO putting the PWC tables and comparisons on their web page? My info is the same as theirs except that I have the current SOS calculation and have included the Secondary criteria. Talking about someone needing a “reality check”, if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black.:rolleyes:

ok then, the way i see it... your numbers can be based on exactly what you've pulled out of all sorts of handbooks, but that still doesn't change that LF and RF are ahead in the NCAA's eyes. trying to throw all sorts of numbers at a reason and hoping the NCAA reads this and takes your side is like asking me why the sky is blue. i'm a mechanic. i don't care. things will end the way that they end. i'd love nothing more than to see RF win a national championship. but if they don't, i'm not gonna try to find some outlandish, backwater rule in the book why they deserve it. in the end, it's the girls of each team that decide their own fates, and the NCAA who chooses who move on to the final 8. not you

I think the problem is that in all of your posts(except that last one) you always say...sorry western folks, or sorry if that ruins your preconvieved thoughs...etc about the west getting 3 teams in. The way things were ranked last week by the NCAA leads to a 4-3 split in most eyes.


So you say all along "the numbers dont lie" or something to that effect, but the pure numbers don't really matter.

Random Thought,

It would be interesting to see what the NCAA would do if Concordia-MN ever made the NCAA tournament. Marian, CUW, SNC, Lake Forest, and Adrian are all beyond the 500 mile bus limit. Lets say next year SNC and Concordia win their conference tourneys...would they fly SNC to Fargo or CM to Green Bay? Or make sure a 3rd western team gets in and give one of them two a bye?

Or better yet...what if its Adrian and CM. Would they give CM a bye and send Adrian east?

Just located this perusing around the net, it is the Massey Ratings for Women's Collegiate hockey. The ratings displayed when you click on the link are a combined D-I & D-III rating, it is interesting to see where our D-III teams stand in relation to the D-I teams. Click on the other two tabs at the top for separate D-I & D-III ratings.

Heck, Reuter can't even get an accurate read on East/West D3, How is anyone supposed to tie D3 into D1 and come up with anything accurate?? Their D3 is even goofier than USCHO or Reuters. But yea it is a different viewpoint. But not as good as The Berry Patch Poll:D

Platty, Elmira, and Amherst are ranked above Union which is D-I. I think the top echelon D-III teams would be very competitive with the lower quarter 25% of the D-I teams in Massey's ratings.

Would it be safe to say that on any given day the above 500 teams in D3 could beat the sub 500 teams at D1 ...or is that a stretch?

Say What??? My thoughts based on NC$$ comparisons.
1. With the exception of Plattsburgh and Amherst, a semi-final loss by all other teams under consideration probably ends their season.
2. Best bet for a 4-3 split is for Gustavus to win the MIAC, River Falls to beat Lake Forest in the NCHA finals, a Trinity loss to Middlebury and then a Middlebury loss to Amherst and Elmira to lose to Plattsburgh in the ECAC-West finals. However on a national basis, Lake Forest’s loss to Mass-Boston or a River Falls loss in the finals giving them 4 losses and 6 ties could be a detriment to a 4-3 split.
3. A RIT win and a Trinity loss in the semi’s might be enough to thrust RIT into the mix for an at-large.
4. Only the SSSC knows what the weighting is for each of the criteria, therefore they pick whomever they want.
5. The NC$$ will tell the SSSC how much money they have to spend on the Championship Tournament, thus dictating if 1 or 2 teams are allowed to fly.
6. Plattsburgh wins the ECAC-West – Plattsburgh hosts the Championship, end of story:( (unless again, Mandigo somehow propels his team to a NESCAC championship and then Middlebury hosts at the majestic Big K – go figure);) :D .

While I know you are kidding about Middlebury hosting if they win NESCAC (long shot but not out of question....and if they do so, PLEASE anyone who knows GoJackets and nbound, please take all sharp instriments away from them, as they may commit harm to themselves) home ice has not been friendly to them this year, so that would not be a value add for them.:D

Well we all know its coming west anyway....which unless Middlebury switches regions it won't happen... I have recieved 98% confirmation that it will be in the west region this year
