'09-'10 D-III Bracketology

Re: '09-'10 D-III Bracketology

Without the host GAC in I think its going to be a tough draw to get more than 400 or 500

I agree. All around disappointing how Gustavus has responded for hosting the event. It is spring break, which took students away...They had roughly the same crowd last weekend for the UWRF game, which probably means the Gustavus Crowd stayed the same size and the rest of the crowd is from the out of town fans.

GAC actually isn't on spring break this week. They just have terrible fan support for their women's team. I was at every home game this season and it's a huge crowd if the Gustavus student section had 40 people in it. I will say, though, that there were a ton of students at the game tonight. Not like a men's game but still quite the crowd.

The three years Plattsburgh hosted, there were 1,000 plus at each of the Plattsburgh games...and that was during March Break with no students in attendance. The town really supports hockey in that town.

Students don't come to PSU hockey games anyways;)

Very good numbers though. Attendance has been best at the "townie" based schools of Elmira and Plattsburgh.

If GAC was in the final tomorrow though I bet we would have seen a much bigger crowd. Friday is a tough day to try get to a hockey game especially going up against March Madness and the D-I Frozen Four etc.

I really wish the NCAA would cut the Friday/Saturday crap and get it back to Saturday/Sunday. Or get the D-III men's and women's final fours on seperate weekends.

I actually think it would be best if they did the D1 and D3 womens tournament at the same place. A lot of D3 teams are in the same town or close to these D1 schools and could help boost the reputation of the D3 game.

Even better would be the DIII men's and women's FF in the same location. Imagine having fans from Oswego, Elmira, GAC, Plattsburgh, Amherst, St. Norbert, and especially the men's AND women's team fans from Norwich all at Lake Placid this weekend. How cool would THAT be? But, alas, that's for another time and other families to pursue. It's been more fun than ever imagined. Thanks ECWH!!!

I agree...great idea...this would be a hoot...not just to be able to support both sides of the DIII game, it'd be just as much fun to watch the fights in the stands!! And in the bars...and at the hotels...andin the streets...ha! Love it...let's petition the NCAA!

Rennell and I were just discussing this last night.

Excellent idea.

Matt proposed Men's semis on Friday, women's semis on saturday and both championships on sunday. Men at 5, women at 2.

That would be a tremendous weekend for all hockey fans and would definitely boost attendance figures for both championships.

I'm sure Placid would be more than willing to host it and could easily do it.

In Minneapolis this weekend is the Womens Final Four and also the Mens WCHA Final Five which drew over 15,000 fans last night. Tough to compete against those games.
