Good for him. Still isn't constitutional.

Pulling up 25 year old legislation that never passed doesn't change the present.

Edit: Why am I not surprised you left out the postscript, too. Probably because you heard it on Fox and didn't bother getting context.

Well that would require reading...

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Here's an off-the-wall idea, don't know how feasible it would be:

As for universal background checks, I think they should be required for ANY gun sale. Here's the amendment: any gun sale has to have a 3rd party as a sort of insurance policy to make sure the background check is legit. Say I wanted to sell a gun, a buyer emerges. The local gun dealer checks both of us out, to make sure our background checks are legitimate, and takes, say, a 5% cut of the sale.

Yes, there would be ways around that (whaddya know, the local gun dealer is my best friend and might bend the approval a little), there are always ways around the rules, but would this be feasible enough to be put in place?

That's how it would work with universal background checks. Another way to codify it would be to say every gun transaction must include a a federally licensed dealer. The only time a background check is not required is if you are selling it TO a federally licensed dealer. You want to sell it to your friend? You sell it to a dealer who then turns around and sells it to your friend at the agreed upon price.

From what I understand most gun stores already provide this service for people selling firearms to people they don't know (and want to make sure it stays out of a criminals hands).

The underlined is where I'm getting at.

I knew he recanted in 1999 or so, but it doesn't change the fact that he tried.

Oh FFS Joe.

No kidding. We all have said some dumb stuff, had horrible ideas. Then, we realized they were dumb, and horrible things. He owned up to it.

Don't think it will account for conceal/carry's 15% increase in violent crime...but OK.

So you were intentionally misleading in your statements. How very Christian of you.

Hope you mention that one at your next confession.

No. But it doesn't fit your agenda, therefore it is heresey.

Confess. If you disagree, the point is automatically wrong.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Except he did admit it (reading is hard) the thing is though he gave ALL the information unlike you.

Notice...none of us are denying anything about Harry Reid doing what you said he did. That is cause we accept facts...you might try it some time it will open up your eyes to the real world.

The only one playing games and twisting facts to fit agendas is you. Makes sense, since your church has been doing that for centuries.

A lie of omission is still a lie. You knew he changed his mind, but left that part out in an effort to say both sides are bad.

Dude, why do you think that if a Democrat does something anyone here disagrees with- we would just jump on board with it like you do for R's?

Nobody here is even REMOTELY saying that Reid was right. So there are D's out there that say things that other D's disagree with. Is that such a hard concept to understand?

Since it seems to be, your goose step angle needs some help- you are not matching your fellow brown shirts.

Find ONE post that things Harry Reid was correct back in 1991? One single post. Since you can't, then you are intentionally being misleading, JUST LIKE you always are.

Your "moral high ground" position you like to take is non existent.

I was right. We got our hashtags on social media, and there's a nice frame you can add to your Facebook profile picture.

We all have to make some concessions to move forward. Otherwise nothing will get done. I think universal checks will cut down on some C&Cs being approved, so there's a small step. I've long been an advocate for anyone who is RESPONSIBLE enough to own a gun, should be able to buy one. I'm willing to tighten up some of those rules applied, to move forward.

I ask the same of the opposition.

Russia invaded and currently occupies Ukraine. Should Ukraine just hope to get say $5m in compensation and then be happy? Let's go back to the way it was in the 80s before everything went in the crapper...and then we can talk about what makes sense 'for the opposition'.

A few years back, the NRA through C&C changed the purpose and reach of guns in the US - from being for occasional sportsmanship and rare home security...to culture that forces people to guns as a solution for lesser problems. Abortion is criticized as a solution for sex. Guns - accompanied by threat of accidental death - were just forced on us as a solution for peace of mind.

Yep. I'm willing to concede that people can own guns. They need to concede that semi-autos are not part of that ownership.

Everyone's making concessions.

Agree with this wholeheartedly. The extremists need to get out of the way.
