0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Agreed. Get out of the way Drew.

Fewer than one in three Americans support guns in restaurants, schools, college campuses, bars, government buildings, sports stadiums, retail stores, service locations such as barbershops and places of worship.

I don’t have strong feelings either way, but it doesn’t seem like gun free zones have a great track record. It might be best to leave it up to the individual institution or business.

What percentage of locations are 'gun free'? You don't know? How can you speak to any meaningful point of view on that then.

It might be best to leave it up to the individual institution or business.

Based on public opinion, that's actually an extremist idea.

At minimum, we should start with guns being illegal indoors and businesses can state 'we welcome guns'. I bet they would be kissing their business good bye.

You know where gun free zones exist and have been proven to work well?

Other countries that have far lower death totals from guns. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

It's not safe in Ward 8 of DC.

@nbcwashington: A 25-year-old man was killed on Alabama Avenue SE as about 75 shots rang out. "They're crazy out here," one resident said. http://nbc4dc.com/aemlaN5

Now imagine St. Louis - it has more than double the murder rate of DC.

Speaking of St. Louis I heard that McCaskill trying to get reelected actually sided with Trump on the Caravan. Missouri and Kansas have turned into cesspools.

The sad thing is St. Louis and DC have about the same crime rate. But St. Louis has twice the murder rate (and lax gun laws).

That's actually not a bad idea. Go the opposite of what we're doing now. Ban all guns at places of business/schools/etc unless the business/etc explicitly says they are okay with guns on their premises. Sure, the lawyers will have a BOATLOAD of fun with that one, but I would be willing to hear this one out, the details, etc.

Not to mention, when was the last time criminals followed laws? I thought not following laws is what made them criminals to begin with?

Yeah, laws are for oppressive commie libs. Who needs em? Let's all go back to vigilante justice. Someone kills your dad and you're mad about it? Hunt the perp down and shoot him.

Outside of your example.....half kidding. I could argue a crime of passion or whatever the specific language is in that case...

I think most people succumb to the power of suggestion. If a business has signs that say "No Guns Allowed" they will tend to believe there are no guns present.

If a business has signs that say "Guns Are Allowed Here," then people will tend to believe that there are many guns on the premises.

So why have laws at all then?

So if criminals are going to be criminals, then the easy button is to eliminate their weapon of choice.

Works well in the rest of the developed world, it should work fine here.
