0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

... because you say so.

The CDC says another 29 are dead today (on average) due to alcohol-impaired drivers.

Are we going after the biggest problem we face as a society?

It's bogus because alcohol and cars are not designed to kill. Guns are. That's their purpose.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Clearly, you’ve never consumed 190 proof Everclear grain alcohol.

I have. That is designed to make you:

1. Blind
2. Unconscious after 2-3 shots
3. Both.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Yes or No: Both result in accountable damage to society and both are dangerous (to self and others) in the hands of those who misuse them.

And so...for once and for all, do you support banning alcohol? Just a simple yes or no please. The vast majority of humans can answer that question without tying it to guns.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Ban the cars! They're the cause for attacks! [/url]

eventually cars will have mandatory collision avoidance technology, even if they aren't being run in a fully self-driving mode

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

it says on the bottle not to consume it without mixing it with something else. I've only ever had it in punch served at college parties.

There's probably a story behind that warning. ;)

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Ban the cars! They're the cause for attacks! No, seriously, according to a particular mayor. I'll let you take a guess as to who. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMPzshtIgVI

Yeah, OK...fell for the flagbait.

Flag, Sic, Brent,

This stuff shows how bizarre you guys are. The video talked about how London had no way of protecting itself...so it might 'ban cars'. First, St. Louis had about 210 homicides last year - London had 116. St. Louis' population is 310 thousand...London is 8.3 million. London had half as many killings with 25 times the population. The difference? Very few people in London are allowed to own guns.

Second, the talk of banning cars has everything to do with the sheer number of existing cars, wonderful mass transit, and sheer number of inhabitants/tourists. So how do you guys paint a success story as negatively as possible? By making stuff up.

Re: 0 Days Since Last Mass Killing: Maybe It's the Person, Not the Gun...

Apparently those guys can’t Google things like “London Congestion Charge”?

Um, part of my argument against banning guns is that it will do almost no good, due to the number of guns already out there. The only car equivalency is to say "Ban Cars!" Too many out there.

Remember, I'm FOR mental health checks, closing all those little loopholes that allow people to get guns in a somewhat shady manner, all that. Full background checks on ANY sale. ANY sale.

Can we start calling him Flaghdad Bob?

Some credit given...

Buy back programs do work. And if it were an option, the donations for said purpose would be massive and probably clear a sizable percentage of guns off the market. The ideologues are the only obstacle.

Argentina: Indications are that the 2007 buyback was successful in reducing the number of gun related deaths from accidents and has done quite a few to reduce the number of gun related deaths in suicides, homicides and car thefts.

Brazil: One study suggests that the buyback "contributed to the observed reduction in firearm related mortality.

Australia: The almost elimination of violence on a massive scale speaks for itself.

Remember, I'm FOR mental health checks, closing all those little loopholes that allow people to get guns in a somewhat shady manner, all that. Full background checks on ANY sale. ANY sale.

We've seen many times before of the airtight correlation between weak gun laws and gun deaths. So if we're going to do something about gun violence, gun supporters want to address mental health and not so much guns. Attempting to fix gun violence by paying for mental health in weak gun law states would necessitate super huge government bills - and I don't support massive government spending especially when the data doesn't support that solution.

California bill to expand gun-takeaway law advances to governor's desk
Fox News

AB2888 passed the state Senate 25-12. It would allow co-workers and school personnel to petition a court to temporarily remove guns from someone they believe poses a danger, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

So here's an interesting quote in regards to the bill: "It is very dangerous when you go after someone's liberty for some perceived security." Craig DeLuz, Firearms Policy Coalition

Craig hasn't seemed to hear of Stand Your Ground laws.

I’m interested to see how this works out. If I was a cop I wouldn’t be very thrilled.

You wouldn't be thrilled to know that every day you go out on the street, there would be fewer guns in the hands of mentally deranged citizens that could be used against you?

Drew is a good guy with a gun so he is fine...

Is evil now a protected group as being "mentally deranged"?

I'm for jacking up the punishments for misuse to the point of being predatory. Either category.
